Peter Forsberg is injured and considering retirement...

If he wants to be able to enjoy his retirement years, he needs to get out now. Some guys just don't when to call it quits when their body takes such a pounding. He's one of the best players of the last 25 years or so...I'd say he goes into the Hall of Fame if he retired from hockey tomorrow. One could only imagine what type of numbers he would've put up if he didn't get hurt so much. There were few guys in the league that I'd rather watch more than him...he was the total package. Although he played for the enemy, I respected the hell out of him.

Yeah, I've heard about that.

But as big of news as this would normally be, it means little because of the NUMEROUS Hall of Famers that have likely played their last game in the NHL.

It's unfortunate when anyone has to retire because of injuries, though.

In Forsberg's case in the line of "greatest players ever", I would argue that part greatness is the ability to avoid injury. Forsberg wasn't very good at that!! But he could do damn near everything else. Having Joe Sakic draw a lot of the defensive attention of the opposition didn't hurt either, though, I admit that in the past couple years teams have focused more on Forsberg than Sakic.

Peter Forsberg is a talented hockey player for sure, but not even close to being the best player in the last 25 years. He wasn't even the best hockey player on his team.

I said "one of" the best. In my brief time as a hockey fan, I always thought he was one of most dominating when he was healthy. No question that Wayne, Mario, Patrick, Messier, and Yzerman have had greater careers but I'd put Forsberg right up there in the top 10 of last quarter century. All time, he wouldn't crack my top 25 but he was damn good though.

I thought eurohockey was supposed to be so much superior to the NHL because fighting isn't allowed there.
