With forecasters warning that a strengthening Gustav could slam into the Gulf Coast as a major hurricane early next week, a New Orleans still recovering from Hurricane Katrina's devastating hit drew up evacuation plans.

Sucks for you, N'awlins. Just when you were starting to recover and almost 3 years to the day after Katrina fucked up your world, it could happen again. I love bad weather... when it's happening to someone else.

Folks in Houston better brace for another onslaught of refugees.

What the really need to do is build a large wall around NO to keep everybody in during a major storm.

That pretty much describes the entire month of August here in the flyover. August is normally the most brutally miserable, hot and humid month day after day. It usually doesn't even cool off much at night.

Must be a global cooling trend.

Part of me wants to see NOLA get hit again since those idiots re-elected Nagin. Sure the gov and feds have a hand after a storm like Katrina, but it is the local govt on the frontline and they are the ones who failed, and badly. You want more Nagin before and after a storm NOLA? Hey, you got it.

That's funny that you mention it. I'm in the H-town area until the 4th and the talk of the town is "please God let the "canes hit here."

I don't think any liquor store or convenience owners are prepared for another enslaught of shotgun blasts to their chest cavity for a sum total of 40 bucks and a carton of Kools.

The other irony of this bitch of a Katrina farce is that New Orleans was actually recovering from anything, other than the Quarter and the Garden district that placed looked like a bombed out Dresden 20 years before anyone other Shaquita new the name Katrina. Believe me I know, that place and Mexico was a stomping ground for those of us from South Texas until the last 7 years, now I'd rather get my drink on in ex-Soviet Georgia for safety reasons alone.
