Like shit.
Every year we beat a team we shouldn't and lose to a team (or 5) we really shouldn't. Gotta draw the line on Arkie St though.
At least we're not AP.

My team didn't lose. That's the good news. Of course, we didn't play either.
The scary thing is that I really have no idea what to expect this season as far as overall performance goes. The offensive line play will have to improve dramatically this season for us to do anything, of course.
Saturday probably won't tell too much for us, as we're playing a team we should beat without much problem. If we're undefeated through 3 games this season, I'll be very happy at that point.

UofH pounded Southern with great offense and a salty defense. I hate that they put the ball on the ground 4 times, although they only lost one fumble. Sumlin needs to make those boys carry the pigskin around campus for the next few days before heading up to Stillwater.
Four fumbles against Ok State in their home opener will spell disaster for the Coogs. If they can protect the ball, then they should have a puncher's chance against the Cowboys.

The bad news: Javon Ringer only rushed for 81 yards.
The good news: Javon Ringer rushed for 81 yards and MSU only lost by a TD.

PSU whipped a 1-AA cupcake. The defense was exposed as very soft in the middle. I've been telling myself that the offense looks good enough to outscore people...but then again, great success against a lower division cupcake should be kept firmly in perspective. In a few prior years, though - PSU would have staggered past even Coastal Carolina.
This Saturday should tell me a lot more. Oregon State is a flawed team, but they have some talent and will be able to move the ball and score against PSU's defense.
I really think that Daryl Clark and Pat Devlin are ridiculously better QBs than Anthony Morelli...should account for a couple of wins at least. There are no 5th year guys that Joe can insert over the genuine RB talent this year. The OL is vastly improved, and depth is starting to build. I am anything but a Jay Paterno fan, but I honestly think Joe will let his son run an offense without too much interference...which will possible result in a 2005 type season.
As the offense goes, so goes PSU.

Just put some sheep on the sideline and you'll distract them enough to move the ball.

Along with all your other talents, you are now a master of the understatement....

My team did awesome. They did not save their usual meltdown for November, when I had begun to get sucked into believing they could actually win big.
They shit the bed first game of the season. Against an unranked opponent from Conference USA.
Now I can just watch the games with no expectations whatsoever, except of course that Glennon will suck and Stinesprng will cripple any offensive momentum.
Unfortunately, the ACC is such an abortion of a conference, that it may take 3 or 4 for shitty games before the Hokies are completely eliminated from an ACC championship.

UDub showed us their O Face for the 5th straight time, in our first-ever August game (in 101 total games). That in and of itself is schweet.
But all of the "question marks" were answered, at least to an extent.
The QB-Controversy ended up going the opposite as expected -- a week ago, it was whether any of the young guns was up to the task -- now, it's a matter of which stud is healthy and fits the system best. They were all very good, and brought different skillsets to the table. Chris Harper was like deja-vu-all-over-again, looking like the underclassman Dennis Dixon -- bad arm, but can fake anyone right out of their jock. If he starts throwing the ball effectively, he might become Chip Kelly's darling. Jerimiah Masoli was pretty darn good, as well. If Justin Roper doesn't get over his concussion quickly, he may get lost in the shuffle.
Everyone was hoping that Jerimiah Johnson would be healthy again after going down last season, especially after losing Jonathan Stewart to the Greener Pastures. He didn't disappoint, and looks every bit as explosive as last year (although he didn't break out his legendary stiffarm to any jaw-dropping extent... but he will). Running game looks very good, but I still question the depth.
After losing pretty much every reciever on the roster to injuries (and most to the dreaded "graduation" thingy), Terence Scott was a beast. Mr. Don't Talk About Me Until I do Something gave us a reason to talk about him. Jaison "I'd already be in the NFL if I could catch the freaking ball" Williams only dropped one -- a banner game for him by last year's standards.
On D, it was whether they could stop the power runs up the middle, and about outside containment from the LBs. While UDub's OLine didn't really put the bruising-up-the-middle defense to the test, what they did bring was very easily thwarted. And Spencer Paysinger had 12 tackles covering the outside, and was in Locker's face the whole game.
So... beating the archrival to start the season, and having every one of our question-marks being replaced with a positive...
Week 1 sure didn't suck. The nation in general, and the PAC in particular, have officially been put on notice.
The team looked better than I expected.
