Voter from San Jose Mercury has Bama #2 and Mizzou #1 he's wasting a ballot. MU should be no higher than #6.

this is the same tard, almost positive, that had Mizzou no higher than #13 all year. And had Hawaii in top 3 late in season!

As promised, I started from scratch this week without a glance at the preseason poll. All rankings are based solely on what the teams did in Week 1. … So much for USC’s offense needing to rebuild. The Trojans go on the road to play a solid program and hang 52 points on them. Now they get a week off to prepare for Ohio State? Yikes. … Alabama totals more than 400 yards and doubles Clemson in time of possession. An incredible performance worthy of the No. 2 spot. Now the Tide just have to back it up. … The lunatic fringe among the Bulldog faithful will question my ranking their team seventh, but I never felt like the Dawgs exerted their will against Georgia Southern. GSU moved the ball consistently throughout the game and could have easily scored 35 points on Georgia’s defense. Let’s see how UGA bounces back next week. … Wake Forest, Penn State and East Carolina already remind me of UConn, South Florida and Kansas of a year ago. … Illinois was the team I wish I could have included on this week’s ballot. The Fighting Illini lost, giving up 52 points to Missouri, but their offense is awesome. Quarterback Juice Williams passed 451 yards.

I had to do a little digging to figure that out. You know - using the theory behind his voting, I really can't say that it's off that much. Will be very interested in seeing how 'Bama does against the SEC, though.

Quite honestly, I was wanting to give the guy shit (he's a young reporter for the Savannah Newspaper), but in all honesty - this is a better way of doing it than rating everybody before they play (IMO)..
Georgia was absolutely unimpressive against a lower division team with a lot of suspensions...

And let's not forget how newspapers sell more when you have a writer who likes to buck public opinion. Had he listed Georgia #1 like everyone wanted him to, no one would have noticed. Dropping to #7 then he creates a local shit storm amongst the homers.

Still - UGA has to understand that they're going to have to get past their ways of typical SEC scoring limitations and run up the score on these teams like USC and OSU and OU will do to contend. UGA has NEVER run up the score on anybody. They'll put in 3rd stringers in the 2nd if they go up over 30.
FTFY.

Georgia Southern had a shitload of suspensions for that game so it wasn't the normal non weak DIaa squad Between the Hedges last Saturday.
