Simple reason why a lot of this is going down, if you believe the rumor mill.

Separation by the Obama camp. A reason for change. Etc. The date to watch for, supposedly (though I think that might be a bit presumptuous) is 10/5 of this year.

Palin frightens the Obama camp and the Democrats more than they'll ever let on. They can't have her beat Biden pillar to post in a debate. Thus, in their minds, there is only one way to combat Palin. Supposedly, we'll find this out on 10/5. Again, the call out of a date might be a bit presumptuous, but then the Dems have been telegraphing everything else, so far.
