Do people make wine out of them? Article doesn't give any percent-sugar numbers (Brix), but if they're that tasty, surely it's worth a shot.

We're right in the meat of berry season here. Blackberries are a weed here (literally -- and an extremely invasive one at that). Lots of salmonberries, huckleberries, and elderberries around right now.

Nothing like being able to walk outside and feast on fresh fruit (of thye non-JON variety).

I will keep an eye out for these scuppernongs, on your recommendation -- since I've never even heard of such a thing, and I thought I was fairly familiar with American grape varietals.

Salmonberries rock ! Used to find them wild up in the Cascades in northern WN when I worked there surveying for the USFS.
Bears loved 'em too.

Getting the usual people who go up into the woods to pick huckleberries ...4000 foot or better elevation ( also bear country) and wonder off by themselves, and get lost over night, and some how beat Darwin and survive...

Got my vine ripened tomatoes on the back deck, my neighbor has a full 53 acres of perfectly ripe sweet corn, we can pick the black berries, salmon berries all within a 5 minute walk. Got concord and pinot noir grapes on the vine, blackberry cobbler every night..making some killer salsa right now..don't need no stinking grocery store, kid slayed a deer last weekend, so summer sausage is in the fridge..getting ready to slay an elk hopefully in the next 2 weeks..and going to go get some chinook salmon over the next month also.

The bounty of the harvest....Ted Nugent knows...
