Bidness as usual....
...huge stir when Sarah Palin was going to chat with Afghan President Hamid Karzai sans the press last week. The Lib's railed against Palin with such ferocity that of course the hacks were allowed in...Ah but not so with Sen. hair plugs, you had to look hard to find any article about Biden's visit with Mikhail Saakashvili..was the press allowed? didya say no! you're right. No press and no post meeting statement as promised. Even playuing field my a$$...
MILWAUKEE - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on Friday but didn't let reporters in as the pair posed for photographers at the beginning of the session.
The decision to allow only photographers, and no reporters, into the meeting briefly at its start recalled a similar move by Biden's Republican counterpart, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, earlier this week. Some of the reporters that cover Palin's vice presidential campaign protested and got the restriction dropped.
Phil Walzak, a spokesman for Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign, said, "It's a private meeting between the senator and a head of state." He said Biden was expected to issue a statement after the meeting.
Walzak said he did not know why Saakashvili was in Milwaukee or the nature of the discussion with Biden, who was campaigning in Wisconsin.
The meeting in a hotel conference room lasted about two hours. When it ended, Biden exited into the hallway, waved to reporters and security officials and went down a private elevator without taking questions. Minutes later he waved to supporters through the closed window of an SUV as he was driven from the hotel.

Sorry to burst your bubble CM, but that story has already been shown to be inaccurate.
Biden and Saakashvili met privately for about 45 minutes, but, despite an Associated Press report to the contrary, members of Biden's traveling press pool were in fact permitted in for a five-minute portion beforehand, giving reporters a chance to hear from the two long-time friends.

Well Obama's put a muzzle on Biden because he's put his foot in his mouth so much.

...exactly why the press core was left out in the hallway.
But hell no with Palin, they were in there falling over each other to try a catch something to run with...

Re: Bidness as usual....
Palin's a different story. She's being "managed", but the idea is to get her out there .... albiet "managed" so people can get to know her (some argue to know her ability to regurgitate talking points). Keep in mind, Palin has given McCain a big boost. Biden, if anything, was slowing Obama down.ChargerMike wrote:Tom In VA wrote:Well Obama's put a muzzle on Biden because he's put his foot in his mouth so much.

Re: Bidness as usual....
Why should Biden be allowed to speak to the press?
Everybody knows he's just a pretty face.

Re: Bidness as usual....
No, that's not even remotely true. If it were, the ABC News story would have referred to them as PHOTOGRAPHERS, not REPORTERS. There's a big fucking difference and I can assure you that ABC is more aware of that difference than you are.ChargerMike wrote:...read the article Bri. photogs only, members of Biden's traveling press pool NO hacks were allowed in.BSmack wrote:Sorry to burst your bubble CM, but that story has already been shown to be inaccurate.

But hey, don't believe me, or ABC. Here's a story Fox News has on the subject.

...uh yea I think I do Bri. after reading your linked article, I'm even more certain!NOW do you understand?
Trouble is, there WAS a reporter(meaning one) present at the beginning of the meeting — one who provided a readout for the AP and other news outlets an hour before Ramde’s story was published. What’s more, Biden solicited questions from those (pure spin since there was only one)in the room at that time.
CBS reporter Arden Farhi, traveling with the Biden press, was assigned to be the sole(meaning one) editorial presence in the room for the meeting between Biden and Saakashvili — who are old friends. While a print reporter is normally assigned to that job, interest in Biden has been so low lately that no print news organizations — the AP included have reporters out with the VP nominee ( a blatant lie as the original article states the press was there.)
Farhi, a camera crew, and a still photographer were allowed in for the first few minutes, as the two men delivered statements.
Arden Farhi, traveling with the Biden press was assigned to be the SOLE presence in the room... where was the rest of the press corps you ask?..did ya say out in the hallway? you'd be right on...

Certain of what? That you don't know what the fuck you're talking about?ChargerMike wrote:...uh yea I think I do Bri. after reading your linked article, I'm even more certain!NOW do you understand?
It is obvious you're unfamiliar with the concept of pool reporting. It's the way events like this have been covered for years. What the McCain campaign tried to do with Palin's meetings was to deny ANY reporters the ability to cover her photo ops errr "meetings". It was only when the press told the McCain camp they wouldn't be getting on the evening news that normal protocol was followed. As it was also with Biden's meeting. Seriously, call Ron Burgundy or whoever the hell is reading your news these days in San Diego and ask them what standard protocol is and if Biden followed it.Trouble is, there WAS a reporter(meaning one) present at the beginning of the meeting — one who provided a readout for the AP and other news outlets an hour before Ramde’s story was published.
