this is their best chance to break the losing streak in LIncoln.

thugskers have struggled to stop mediocre teams, and then allowed a piss poor Vatech offense to thrash them. sometimes this would be a dangerous game, but Daniel and company are ready. even in their worst game this season, Buffalo, they trashed them with yards and daniel completed 20 straight passes. Offense is rolling, no reason to expect it to stop vs pink shirts.

Mizzou 42
Nebraska 20

* the 2005 game is on fox midwest right now. wow, Brad Smith , when used correctly was a game breaker on every run.

lets get it on bugeaters.

if MU does anything but roll in Lincoln i'll be surprised (like every one else). anything can happen, but i don't see how NU's lack of speed on D (and very mediocre LB play) keeps MU from rolling it up.

i think Pelini has the Bugchompers playing with some grit and no quit...but they are outmatched and the lustre is off Memorial Stadium. It's hard to admit, but it's true.

MU 46-24, first time since 1978 a Tiger W in Lincoln.

I drove up to Omaha yesterday and saw many Tiger tails hanging from the backs of vehicles on I-29 along the way. There's going to be more than a few Mizzou fans present to celebrate the end of 30 years of frustration and futility.

Let's go, Tigers!

Mizzou - 52
Corn - 28

that 78 game was great for OU. Billy Sims fumbles inside the NU 10 and Osborne beats Switzer for the first time. HOWEVER, NU turns around and loses at home to Mizzou.

the Orange Bowl committee invites both NU and OU for a rematch. a game OU dominated. sweet revenge.

there's a video of Bob Devaney and Dr. Tom getting the phone call from the Orange Bowl that Oklahoma is the other team invited...and they both look like they just heard undeniable evidence that their mom was a crack whore.

this isn't the best angle, nor the one you saw on TV....but the move Sims puts on the first guys is ridiculous juke. but, in the interest of equity. that play costs OU the MNC, basically. OU is the only team in 78 that beat every team it played, and no one went undefeated. to be honest, that was one of Switzer's best teams.

Which kept Nebraska out of the MNC that year. The Corn defense is still feeling the mauling James Wilder put on them that day.

Lotta great backs in the Big 8 then. WIlder, Tony Reed, Sims Overstreet King, Dwayne Crutchfield, Terry Miller at OSU.

i give Wags some cred for knowing James Wilder.

Lou Holtz just gave the kiss of death to Nebraska.

"Thissh may be a trapth game for Missthouri. Thay may be underesthimating Marvin Luckthhy's ability to run thha football. I thhink thisss may be closther than people thhink."

Another excellent analysis.

The Corn is one of only 2* college football teams that can't get buttfucked in the mouth bad enough as far as I'm concerned. If Mizzou does it, that's fine with me. If it was 152 to 28, I'd still want them to keep running up the score. The only time I got no love for the tigers is when the Buffs are playing them.

* the other team is Wyoming. It would totally suck if Wyoming played the Corn because only one of them can lose

Bwah - yeah, I heard that.

Well you know ESPN has to try to drum up some interest. Trap game my ass, I doubt even Holtz believes those words that came out his mouth. This game is going to be all about payback for some of the obscene thumpings Mizzou has taken in Lincoln the past 30 years.

And what's up with the late start time? I'll be at least half drunk by kickoff... so give me a break RF if I tend to go over the edge.

We put-up 30 on VT, silly to predict we'll put-up less against Mizzou's mediocre D.

But we can't stop anyone, our D likely get lit-up like a Christmas tree.

We should compete but without some BIG breaks I don't see a W.

is vatech d that good??? they lost basically 3/4 of it to the nfl. i think your over valuing the points they put up on Vatech.

This obviously isn't one of VaTech's better D's but Foster has lost plenty of guys before and still CONSISTENTLY come-up with highly ranked units. Come on, you honestly think you're D is as good as Va Tech's? We should get points, problem is you should get more. Judging from last week I'm just hoping it's not a lot more.

Mizzou D is not as bad as everyone makes out. I think they'll surprise some folks by getting stronger as the season progresses, just like last year. One thing that needs to be recognized is that they certainly don't get much rest between the two minute, 80 yard TD drives this offense routinely generates.

Having FS William Moore back certainly won't hurt either as long as he's near 100%.

Wags - what were you doing in Omaha and why didn't you just get a Motel 6 and scalp a ticket to the game?

I've seen one game in Lincoln - think it was 86 - It was during the Woody Woodenhead era
We of course got our ass handed to us - but the people couldn't have been nicer.

Plus I hooked up with -a skinny chick that night from Beatrice down on "O" Street.
Seldom the words skinny and chick are used in same sentence for a Braska coed.

that didn't take long. Maclin for 70 yards and a TD.

like i said, NU's LB's are terrible, the middle of the field and crossing routes will make the blackshirts squirt their acid wash jeans time and time again.

Council Bluffs, actually. Went up there with wifey to drop some coin at the Horseshoe casino. I like that place. Spent two years stationed at Offut AFB 1980-1982 and know the area pretty well - like to cruise up there now and then

Yeah, Lincoln is one of the only places where they'll applaud the other team for giving a nice effort... while they're hanging 70 on you.

During my time spent there, I nailed a few skanks. None of them were skinny. One of them fatties almost got her hooks in me... sweet girl with a nice face who owned her own house. I fled back to KC post haste once my time was up.

How does Pinkel's shitty dick taste Bo? BUTTFUCKED IN THE MOUTH IN OUR OWN CRIB. This is beyond pathetic. Congrats to Adel and Wagon. You bludgeoned the piss out of us.

Fuck you to everybody involved that has made Neb football a joke and made it so I can't really look forward to games anymore knowing what kind of product awaits.

Wow, just wow. We are really, really sorry. Horrid tackling, tons of penalties, missed assignments, turnovers, inability to knock anyone off the ball = losing football. WTF Bo? I wasn't expecting miracles but I was expecting improvement. I know this is the first year but geez. We'll have to scabdick just to make the freaking Independence Bowl or whatever is the last slot the 12 has.

This is why I was going to take a year off from this board, because it's going to take some time, kids.

The fact that you have a handful of former walk-ons starting should tell you something. I realize that people expected more out of Bo, but when he took over in 2003, he inherited players that already played hard, had some decent technique and were only in the top 40 of defenses, which was considered horrid then. Fast forward to his return this year and he inherits a team that was dead last in the Big 12 (and probably the nation) in every category. Four years of bad habits is going to be very hard to break.

You can't put some seasoning on a shit sandwich and expect it to taste like steak. It's going to take some time. It's fairly obvious to me that Bo kept Shawn Watson as OC to retain whatever continuity there was, but when you have an OC that seems afraid to run the ball, a senior QB that chooses to throw it at times when he has nothing but daylight in front of him, running backs that fumble, no talent at tight end whatsoever, middling talent at wide receiver and an offensive line that's afraid of their own shadows, it's kind of hard to swallow.

I'd look for Watson to take another job at season's end. M Dub warned us about him from his day's at CU. I'm fully aware now.

Like what Rich Rod is trying to do at Michigan, it's going to take time.

So that's it for me this week. I have no interest whatsover arguing with anyone on this, which is why I haven't been posting this year. This is mainly for my fellow NU fans. It sucks, but Bo inherited the short bus. Major overhauls need to happen. He didn't sound very happy at all after the game. I would not want to be at practice on Monday.

Congrats to Missouri. You guys look very good. I'll be surprised if you guys lose prior to the Big 12 championship. Freaking hate Chase's cocky attitude, but dude can certainly play.

Texas is going to be tough, very tough.

As for Chases' attitude, he said he got spit on by some thugster player before the game and that they were the dirtiest team he ever played against.

I'm not one for running up the score, but last night I really wish they had. And not just as payback for the 63-6 and 57-0 of prior years, but because they were being some punkazz bitches that needed to be slapped silly and have their nose's rubbed in it.

Congrats thugsters on scoring that last second TD that avoided it being an even worse home loss than the 41-0 to OU in 1955.

Yeah...

I'm wondering if old Chase isn't lying. How in the hell does someone spit on you before the game in front of a sellout crowd, tv cameras, other players and coaches and only Chase sees it?

He also said that Bo Pelini said that he would shut out Missouri. Ummm... No he didn't.

ESPN.com also reported that Pelini is trying to contact Pinkel to discuss the accusations.

So I guess maybe I am getting interested in this season now...

Well if some idiot did spit on him, he must be able to tack some serious hand time on his projectile. I've been to countless games and you never get within' 25' of the players from either team. NU's tunnewalk the exception; but the roped off area for the opposing team keeps you pretty well away. About the only place is the overhang going into the tunnel to and from the lockerrooms. But only about 8-10 people could make that play and the peer pressure and witnesses' would pretty much exempt that try.

Hard to imagine. But not impossible. Maybe he's flashbacking to his nosepickin' days.

However, I must give Tiger fan props on a really good team. I'm not pretending to just realize it. A week ago this morning I told all my cronnies at work to jump on a plane to Vegas, clean out the 401K and put it on MU. The spread was ludicrious.
It was what I expected.
Just before the game started my wife told me we have a chance, people from her work told her "it'd be close"...I told her they drink the KOOL-AID (had to explain what that meant)..I said; "check back with me 15 minutes in."
She headed to bed early in the second.
I drank myself to sleep.
