this aint no big shot, like Northwestern over MSU (i personally think Baylor could beat NW)
but Wisconsin will beat Penn st.
why?
Penn st isnt as good as their ranking leads people to believe. Also, they definitely took advantage of bad teams and home games to put up big points and their undefeated record. No gimmes now. Wisky smash mouths them right in the fucking grill and grinds out a hard fought win, they win this for the Band. I think penn st is a good team, but slightly overrated.
although Penn st does have a," high octane", "balls to the wall","scoring fucking machine", better than "Mizzou" offense

Hey, needing a FG in the 4th to break the teens vs Purdue is," Dynofuckingmite offense". No way is Missouri in their class, no way.
PS purdue is giving up 400++ yards per game on defense, so the "purdue has a tough defense ", line wont work!

Anyone that would pick against a team that so dominated Coastal Carolina must be feelin pretty frisky....

Part of me thinks there's no way in hell Wisky will drop three straight, including two night games at home. That just doesn't happen to Wisky. The other part of me thinks PSU is a better football team, and by quite a margin. They're balanced, and Wisky is not. Wisconsin will need all of the intangibles to go their way like turnovers, field position, poor calls, etc. My gut tells me PSU squeaks this one out.

it's very possible, they fold after that tough loss to tOSU.
but if they come to play, they make PSU bleed.

Last year, with a horrific QB at the helm, PSU walloped UW 38-7. This year, despite an extremely friendly opening schedule, we have at least learned that our QB situation has changed dramatically.
I am not sure if PSU is overrated at #6. i have said for many years that when and if PSU has even a decent offense, they are tough to beat because of the defense.
You're right, this is going to be a tough game. You never really know which way the ball will bounce. Prior to the Purdue game, I was concerned that Joe would clamp down on the offense in the first conference road matchup...but he didn't, or he wasn't able to. I think PSU was focusing on some fundamentals, and in some cases they found some things that didn't work - thus they didn't kill Purdue. They did flummox a QB that knows how to move the ball on just about anyone. Painter was actually benched in the game. Royster was over 140, and if the PSU backs didn't slip on a few plays, the score would have been a lot more one-sided.
Over and over Clark checked through his reads and hit his best option, using his legs only where strictly necessary. With a QB able to do that, we are in a completely different situation this year.
I think among the games out there, picking Wisconsin to win is hardly the worst idea. My own prediction?
PSU: 28
UW: 17
If things go that way, it will be tough to keep my expectations in check - although the two main challenges of the season await against UM and tOSU.

I said a couple of weeks ago that if UW lost at Michigan, the Badgers would be a 4-5 loss team. PSU is one of the 4-5 losses. They’re the class of the Big 10 this year, with a good shot at being sacrificed on the SEC BCS Championship Game altar.

ummmmm, there isn't a team in the SEC this year that could beat PSU.
I guess they could... since it seems anybody could lose to anybody, but I just don't see a team in the SEC that could beat them.
This would be a good year for the Big 10 to exorcise some demons.
The SEC looks fairly average this year.

It might as well be two completely different programs because there's no way to compare those Lloyd Carr teams to the current one which already has three losses. Those Lloyd Carr teams were consistently good football teams, year in year out. This current one...neither consistent nor very good. Don't get me wrong, I firmly believe that DickRod will get there, but this year there is no reason to expect Michigan will make much noise, and the past has very little, if no bearing at all on this season. You can throw all the records and everything out the window once you go through a regime change and a total depletion of senior talent, especially at the skill positions.
I'm not suggesting they shouldn't take Michigan seriously, I just disagree with the notion that it'll be one of their tougher games. We'll see, I guess.

Hmm, hope we get a chance to put that to the test.
At any rate, it looks like the PSU / Bama game next year stands a chance at being a good one...

Steve nailed it - UM is a maize and blue monkey on our backs, Carr or no. I'm 9 matchups into conditioning to piss myself when I see the winged helmets. I will expect a loss until I see the scoreboard settle on something different.

when you use mizzou as your barometer for making picks, you should probably start following cricket. i hope, for your sake, they win the national championship this year.
psu is by far a better team than michigan. the problem with michigan is that, although they generally suck, they're still pretty talented. they'd be alright if they just figured out how not to fumble. they could possibly even be scary if everything fell in place, which is why i haven't written off the ohio state game yet. we'll struggle to finish .500, but i think we have at least one more big win left to savor.

I suppose cautious optimism is a better approach than blind homerism. I guess I can say it for you, though: PSU is going to dryfuck Michigan in the mouf.

Not to hijack this thread with non-Mizzou references and hopefully this isn't a Glass Dick either, but M Club's av reminded me of something I thought I saw at the beginning of the UM-Illinois coverage Saturday.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I swear I saw a UM player pull a hammy when he went to smack the m club banner. ABC immediately cut to commercial. Couldn't see what number he was wearing, but that horse definitely pulled up lame. Anyone confirm?

.
Wisky is going to beat Penn st. they will punish PSU with the running game, and complete some big plays with play action. PSU will be bloody from the physical beating wisky lays down. we will see blood on those white uniforms.
the mizzou stuff is from what the PSU posters were saying on a PSU message board, that they would literally destroy Mizzou,. had better players on offense, and were world beaters.

I don't know what the ML is and don't care, but you're high on crack. Not that anyone's surprised at that. You should stick to handicapping the nags at Belmont.

They have been the better team on several occasions during the span of the last nine matchups. Point is, sometimes one team has got another teams number. For a long time we've had PSU's. The players in the white helmets have never witnessed PSU beating Michigan. There are doctors who were in High School the last time Jopa got the best of UM. I could go on, but you see my point. Until PSU takes Michigan down (and I do like their chances this year) it aint over. I would suggest that they get to it this year though.

psu has had the better team a couple times during this stretch, but only once was there an appreciable advantage. even then, the matchups favored umich, and by matchups i mean paterno vs. carr. carr was carrservative, but at least he took the hot rod out for a drive every so often, especially when facing the one coach more apt than he to regard the fetal position as legitimate game planning.
it's odd to talk about this streak because i don't know a whole lot of people who take it seriously. it's nice to dominate a traditional power, especially in light of the last few years, but whereas state has been wow, four, and then wow, seven?, penn state has been like, really, nine in a row? i didn't even notice.

i don't think michigan state would be much of a surprise, actually. if i had to bet, i'd throw my dosh down state side, but i feel much the same way about state as i did wisco: that your offense isn't designed to put the game away early, so we'll always be within striking distance, in which case anything can happen. we have a very strong d line and adequate linebackers. the biggest weakness seems to be miscommunication between the corners and safeties, and hoyer is meh. outside of the red zone, you're more likely to score points through threet than you are your own qb.
my point was that i think we'll beat either psu or osu. i'll trade losses to nd, msu, and psu for the osu win.

it seems like you take it as a personal affront if someone's not out in front about how great mizzou is. like i've seen many people point out here, why bitch about where they're ranked right now? they're in the same position as the other teams in front of them, which is to basically win out and life is a-ok. i'm actually pulling for them, though chase daniel is turning out to be a bitch, though he is fun to watch. "i'm not going to say who it is"? that's because "who it is" isn't an actual person. the only other people i know how make drama like that up are junior high girls.

no, i dont take it personal. i like Wisky this week
i picked them in pool and when lines first came out(Sunday night), that was the game that stood out. i'm taking Wisky on the Money line, don't need the points, they will win out right. I also thought Troy was a lock, do i hate FAU? no, a winner is a winner.
only team i dislike is KU.
as far as chase, i dont know why he would say anything, especially if he didnt plan on outing the guy. maybe it's a texas thing?

Point is, sometimes one team has got another teams number. For a long time we've had PSU's.
Yep. PSU's approach has been tough for some teams - Purdue, for example. Even at the height of the Brees era (coinciding with the nadir of PSU's slump), Purdue always was handled by PSU. It wasn't until 2003-2004 where Tiller had a decent running game that he chose to utilize against the Lions that they defeated us.
Similarly, teams that have a lot of beef in the trenches like UM usually move the ball well against PSU. UM is the first team that comes to mind. One of the more interesting things in my mind about PSU's time in the Big 10 has been getting a sense of how the team matches up against the conference opponents - it's amazing how true to form things usually seem to go.
Aslo, adel - my take on PSU vs. play-action is this. The zone coverages we use defend well against play action, because nobody is up tight on receivers. The problems for PSU's defense are with the seams in the zones. PSU got killed by ND and always gets killed by UM because those teams know exactly where to attack the defense.
I like our chances in this game. Everidge seems like a guy who rattles - and we have a good pass rush that can get to him and remove his clavicles.

bet Wisky straight up +195
fark the 5 pts. i like them to win outright.
If Penn st wins, then i give them al lthe credit, and they deserve a top 5 spot. But this isnt like playing illini and purdue, Wisky is physical, something they havent faced.
when your beating on someone, they wear down. well see. wont be watching game, so have to get updates on bottom of screen. watching pokes and tigers
