Just 19 years old and a first round pick 2007 to boot...what a tragic loss for hockey and the Rangers organization. My deepest condolences to his family. A few of his teammates on Omsk include Jaromir Jagr, John Grahame, Alexander Svitov, former Kings prospect Pavel Rosa and former Capitals prospect Jakub Klepis. From another article I read, supposedly Jagr was right near Cherepanov when it happened. I can't imagine how he must be feeling right now.
I can't help but think of the near tragedy with Jiri Fischer a few years ago where he had to be revived on the bench after his heart stopped and collapsed and probably the reason why he was saved was because of the fast work of the medical staff at the Joe. You'd hate to think that the fact the ambulance leaving and having to come back caused enough of a delay in preventing him from getting the care he needed to possibly survive. They mentioned it happened near the end of the third period of the game and one would assume that the ambulance left assuming all was safe and sound with the game almost over. This just isn't a situation anyone expects to happen so you can't put anyone or anything at fault for this.
RIP
