whats gonna happen when they have to play against a team with a half way decent defense. i understand that it would be tough to hold OS to under 35, but their defense is so porous..

i smell a bad bowl season for the b12..

sayin..

I think OU and UT have pretty darn good defenses.

They'll only score in the high 30's instead of the high 40's?

Teams from the SEC, Big Ten, etc., haven't faced the Big 12 offenses. Doesn't really mean jack.

I think offenses are just getting bigger stronger and faster.
they've caught up to defenses.
they're more complex and are getting the better athletes whereas defenses have had the upper hand for the last several years.
defenses are starting the game on their heels from the first snap.
not just the Big 12 but across the board.
have you seen the numbers Tulsa is putting up?
771 yds of offense is sick C-USA or not.

5 of the 6 scoring offenses are from the Big XII...no big surprise that Oklahoma State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech are in the top 6 with Tulsa leading the nation. The Golden Hurricane are more than a TD per game ahead of Texas.

It is unusual to have that many teams from one conference near the top in the major offensive categories but what you have is glut of very efficient QBs in the same conference. There are currently 7 Big XII in the top 15 in passer rating in the entire country. Freeman and Griffin are in the top 22.

The Big XII is clearly a passer's conference because they have only one rusher in the top 40 in yards. Texas is 40th in total defense but they are 3rd in the nation in rushing defense and they are the only team in American who haven't allowed a rushing TD all year. The biggest test for the Longhorns rush defense will come against Kendall Hunter next week...the conference leading rusher and the 5th leading rusher in the country.
