I was watching this one live on TV and first thought the ref just got caught in the way. When they played the replay you can see him step into and throw his shoulder into the QB. I thought "The Old Ball Coach" would be going ballistic, but it didn't happen. Very crucial turn of events at that point in the game.

Good hit, but if he's going to be making tackles from the Sam spot, he better learn to drop his hips and wrap the guy up.

Here's the whole version... includes slo-mo.

Colin Cowturd was railing about it today, wondering why the mainstream sports press has been completely mum about this. Good question.

didnt the South Carolina folks produce a video last year of their game with LSU that had cheap shot after cheap shot in it and none recieved a flag? Its easy to not get many penalties in a game when the refs are on your side.

If that video is real, that's some bizarre shit.

Umpires are taught to step towards a runner who is coming straight at you. The thought process is that this forces the runner to move left or right.

I have never anyone tell them to shuffle their feet and to move parallel to the LOS. And dropping your shoulder to make a better hit? This guy needs a few weeks off.

MSU could've really used that guy on Saturday vs Pryor.

this has already been discussed at nauseating lengths

officiating is pathetic in all sports.

what a shocker, Bo Pelini coached Defense taking cheap shots on players.

I'd say the rest of the year off at least. If the runner had come at him I could give the shoulder the benefit of the doubt, but ref actually shuffled right into the runner's path to give the shoulder. Too fishy for the guy to be working games IMO. Looked to me like if the ref hadn't went for the shoulder the runner would've skimmed by him without significant contact at all.

Maybe I'm just naive but I gotta believe the ref here. Under the assumption he's getting paid to fix the outcome, why the hell would he do something so blatantly obvious as taking out a player running with the ball? Maybe I'm not an expert on fixing games, but I don't think that's how it's done  .

I chalk it up as nothing more than a freak accident.

watch the video of last years game and the shit LSU got away with.

especially the 4th down play, and the official moving the ball, so its a turnover. im shocked Spurrier didnt take a 15 yarder and just go nuts.

u can see its a first down from the camera, then the official moving the bal lwith his hand.

nothing from the SEC refs or Big12 Refs from Texas would surprise me. The SWC was a league full of cheaters and cheats. The worst officials in the Big12, are the Texans. There is a saying in the Big12, just pray you dont get texans doing your games in Texas.

just when you think the officiating in all sports has hit a new low, they ratchet it up to another level of stupidity.

I think the old ex-linebacker had some flashbacks to the 70's for just a monent. Nice footwork and positioning for a guy his age. I say rack him, nice play, and give the dude a sticker for the back of his cap.

can you imagine if that happened vs So CAL...toejam would MELT in epoch strides...

L45B don't forget the Beanie Stiff Arm as well

Cal also could have used that ref in the 2nd half against Arizona...

Whereas on the other hand, PAC refs are quite capable of suprising me...

Occasionally making the correct call would do the trick.

Had it happened in So Cal I would have waited for his ass in the parking lot and then beaten his ass to death with a baseball bat. Thats 2 years in a row that the SEC officials fucked South Carolina vs LSU, would certainly seem to an outsider that the conference is indeed playing favorites.

Right. :meds:

That is why Randy's crew has called a title game. And why Cooper's crew was the top ranked for two of the last three seasons.

Unless your team was losing. In that case you bitch and whine about how pathetic your team was and throw in the towel on the rest of the season.

Pussy.
