Wanna give a shout out to my new favorite band: MGMT, formerly known as the Management. Orecular Spectacular is their first album under their "new" name. Kind of new wave/indie psychedelia with a lot of synth. Fucking sweeet shit. Their first album was called Climbing to New Lows and it's very similar to OC, but OC is much improved. Favorite tracks are Kids, Electric Feel, Weekend Wars and Time to Pretend, and The Youth is very good as well. Highly recommended, unless you're a Shins-hating re-re like PusFan.
What the fuck does that have to do with MGMT, dickbag? Straighten up and fly right or pay the price.

Pay what price?
I've seen a lot of idiots on these boards over the years, but they usually don't get made mods. You're a straight up totally lame dumbfuck on just about every level, no question about it.
And that faggot ass band you're pimping sucks just as hard as you.

That's the kind of music Diego cranks up as he drives slowly past the playground.
Jeeeezus...is everything you like dickless, "Jewish-community-center-Tuesday-night-dance" fodder?

These guys make Death Cab for Cutie seem like Motorhead by comparision. Absolutely awful.

MGMT is really good alt rock. Most of you guys just can't break the mold of 30 year old classic rock licks. It's all you'll ever know or care to embrace. Your tastes in music are dated and confined to a specific sound, and anything beyond that is too strange sounding for your ears. Some people aggressively seek out new music constantly, and as a result, their tastes expand and evolve over time. They start to appreciate all different kinds of stuff. But not you guys - 30 years later, still spinning the same old Pink Floyd and Zep albums. Not that there's anything wrong with those guys, but you get my drift. Personally, I'd take dieting advice from KFC Paula before music recommendations from any of you retread classic rock heads.

Ya' know, there's no accounting for taste. I actually listened to some of that. It was downright horrid imo, but if that's pleasing to your ears, go for it.

Not really. I like some 10 and 20 year old stuff as well. Most music has to grow on me over a period of time. I have hardly ever listened to a song for the 1st time and instantly said "that's a fucking classic". Except for maybe Trampled Under Foot and Kashmir by Zep and Time by Pink Floyd.
But I like a wide variety of music outside of the classic rock genre. Sometimes it just takes awhile for full appreciation to set-in.
I can honestly say that MGMT or whatever the fuck they call themselves will never fit in that category. Fucking garbage.

When I’ve had occasion to ride in my son’s vehicle, I’ve been forced to listen to his selection of music. It hasn’t been all bad. Except when he busted out the country western. The samples Screwball linked were just unlistenable. Horrible excuse for music.
Sounds like The Backstreet Boys got ahold of some Men at Work and Prince albums and decided to strip out all the heterosexual elements.
What exactly is this supposed to be an alternative to?

No, the Stooges were Alt rock. MC5 were alt rock. Velvet Underground were alt rock. The Ramones were alt rock. Screaming Trees and Hüsker Dü were alt rock. This crap you're posting couldn't rock a nursing home bingo game. I've heard elevator music that kicks more ass than MGMT. Come to think of it, I would rather endure a Lawrence Welk marathon than listen to 10 minutes of MGMT.
I think I'll get back to listening to the latest Mars Volta album. If only to erase the memory of listening to that crap.

Don't worry about it a bit, S_M. Time will prove you to be a genius.
These dusty old dinosaur-loving, Bud-swilling, Molly Hatchet-singing-along-to fucks probably cast the same derision when Milli Vanilli first came along.

Every once in a great while, someone here posts something that leaves you scratching your head, and wondering "what the fuck were they thinking?"
This is just such a thread.
As far as the rating on the Atomic Punk Scale (The AP Scale is a rating system from 1-10, where Whitey professing devotion to Bud Light ranks a 1, and Irie admitting to gazing longingly at the meth dealer's crank ranks a 10... BTW-in case you're curious, Atomic Punk's Panty Episode scores an infinity, hence the name)...
on the AP Scale, this scores a solid 2.8.
But on the bright side...
At least you're not AP, praise be unto you.

Please, do not take the AP Scale lightly. It is a complex set of equations and formulas.
I trust you factored in the intangibles...(i.e. mirror/goo refraction theory...quantum panty waistband stretch ratio, or QPWSR for short...)

You were bored, right?
I mean, I get the difficulty in presenting newer music to a group of old men, it's like trying to get my kids to eat something besides chicken strips, but wtf, MGMT?
Anyway, I can't say much as I just picked up tickets for The Cult(for me) and AC/DC(at the urging of an old friend) ...and as much as I like new and different tunes...MGMT?
Rock on, you rocker you.

Absolute God awful tripe.
But they're still better than MGMT. To suck worse than MGMT, you have to plumb the depths of sickitude until you're at eye level with Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy and the Jonas Brothers.

No, it is based on two full YouTube clips that an admitted fan of the group claimed to "rock". Please, find just one clip of this band that is not utter crap. I promise, if you post it, I'll listen.

That was better. Not good enough to run out and buy. But if I heard it on the radio, I wouldn't start vomiting uncontrollably.
I'd still rather listen to the Kaiser Chiefs.
