That looks more like a retention enticement. You don't enter IRR unless you've served on Active Duty/Guard/Active Reserves. That looks like a way to get guys to re-enlist, get that deferrment for two years rather than risk leaving the service and getting called back via IRR.

My buddy just ETA'd(ETS'd) - exit the army - I think was the term he used. He said they tried everything they could to get him to stay; he wasn't having it.

ETS. That's what it was. ETA is Estimated Time of Arrival.

I'm sure that tactic will work on guys like this.
