I saw this guy this morning when the wife turned on the CBS Morning News, and there he was.

I'll agree with Tom that it's not about forcing people to have sex. Then again, the peer pressure that can be exerted in a church setting, particularly within the type of church I suspect this is, can be overwhelming at times.

But the whole mentioning of rape brings up an interesting topic, to me anyway. At common law, a man could not rape his wife, although under certain circumstances, such as if he assisted another man in raping his wife, he could be held criminally liable.

That rule has been abrogated by statute in all fifty states. Now, a man can be charged with raping his own wife.

I suppose that's a step in the right direction, at least from the standpoint of recognizing the woman's inherent worth and dignity as a person, and in recognizing that a married woman is not the property of her husband. OTOH, historically speaking, the quid pro quo for forsaking all others was never having to hear the word "no" again in that context. That fact, combined with more relaxed social mores relative to divorce in general, may be damaging to the institution of marriage, a subject that's been discussed in other threads. Just a thought.

As for the challenge, for any number of people it'll be impossible. Some women will come into that time of the month during the next week. Others have certain obligations that make complying with this challenge impossible. A couple of weeks ago, I had a felony jury trial. Sex every day during that week was out of the question.
