Robinson out at SU

Effective at the end of the season, so he'll be a lame duck for the game against us.

No big surprise, of course. To me, the only real surprises were that: (a) it took this long; and (b) at least to me, there didn't seem to be anywhere near the same amount of fan outcry for Robinson's job as there was for Pasqualoni's job a few seasons back.

No word yet on a possible successor. If I had to hazard a guess, Turner Gill is probably at the top of SUfan's wish list.

Seems to me that they've been pretty much a non-factor in the national scene ever since McNabb left for the pros...not a huge shock that Robinson would get the axe.

Randy Edsell might be higher on their list too.

True, but for him right now that's probably a lateral move . . . at best.

Then again, Edsall being a SU alum might tip the scales in their favor.

Edit: Upon further review, Edsall reportedly says he is not interested in being a candidate for the SU job. Speculation is that the leading candidates are Skip Holtz, Lane Kiffin and an assistant at Florida. The source is ESPN, so take it with a grain of salt. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3708797

They should not have forced Paul P out - not that their record would have been any different

Knew this was coming before the season started.

Can't see Edsall taking this job, he has UConn headed in the right direction, if he leaves I think it's to a better job than this.

I think they'll keep it in-state and bring Turner Gill over from Buffalo.

They went to bowl games at least, which is something they haven't even sniffed in the Robinson era.

9-36 overall and 3-25 in the Big East.

Give the man 5 more years.

:meds:

He would've gotten a contract extension in Detroit with that record.

Gill looks like a distinct possibility. See this http://www.wtvh.com/sports/34817644.html .
