...that if there was some sort of "crisis" in Washington, that they could step in temporarily to maintain order and prevent any injury to the form of government from those that would harm it in times of instability?

It would take quite an uprising to require the regular army to intervene. Most any situation could be handled by local and state police or National Guard.

How about a schism (possibly geographically) from right-wing reactionaries caused by antogonism to an Obama administration?

A few disgruntled Klansmen in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi aren't going to start a Civil War, if that's where you're going with this.

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that National Guard is considered a militia.

Seems to me that, if you own a firearm, you should be part of the well regulated militia.

A lot of the NRA dudes I know are in the guard already, or some form of law enforcement. The instructor at my class was a deputy sheriif.
Arm up dude, be a part of it.

That's exactly right and Coods remains a pathetically uninformed dumbfuck.
Educate yourself before next KYOA, fool
There is of course the modern 10 US Code §311, which defines the unorganized militia of the U.S. as essentially all males 18-45 and certain women, and the organized militia as essentially the National Guard.
Very interesting article and the author goes on to state:
The current National Guard is not what was etched into the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment. There is no such thing as an organized and unorganized militia or an unarmed militia. Militia service is compulsory and integrated with the civil authority. The Virginia militia was so well regulated and maintained that this helped enable Virginia to fight the civil war so effectively. This is also why the Militia system guaranteed under the United States Constitution was changed so drastically so that states like Virginia could not wage war again. The concept of the National Guard is an unconstitutional usurpation of the fundamental right to a well regulated militia system.

Explain yourself.
The National Guard is indeed considered and defined as a miltia. Some part of that you don't get?

Rubbish. There is nothing preventing states from maintaining their own militias and, in fact, many of them do.

That wasn't the point.

No probably not, seems these guys are like the water boys, while I am not good enough for the team or the practice squad there's a good chance I can carry their water. I'll be Gunga Din In VA so be it.
I'll be sure to let you know, I know you pay attention to the details of my life.

what i don't get it why you claim it IS, and then quote something that says it ISN'T to support your claim

I just thought that was an interesting perspective, and one that I hadn't heard or read before. I don't necessarily agree or disagree just because I quoted it, but dude may in all actuality be correct. I dunno'.
I thought it might make for an interesting debate here as well, and I hope that answers mv's question about what the "point" actually was. I wasn't really making one, just throwing out some food for thought and wanting to see what others thought about that claim.

So if you sign on with the beerbellybrigade and get yourself shot raiding some white-power compound, it'll be on
Martyred's conscience.
Just join the Somali pirates, Tom.
They're on the up and up - and achieving VICTORIES!

Tom should join the Nationals, which would be a little closer to home, for him.
Then he could demand a trade to the Pirates.

Seriously, no, this is important business. Besides maybe I'll get some intel to send the family north - I mean they have to train for something - directing traffic, bringing water, food, logistical support, it all points to something going down. It'll be a way for me to be several hundred circles from the "inner circle" and know when social order is going to break down.
It's all about the family. I'm calling Monday.
Tonight. With those pics, ......
Then tomorrow, it's getting the drapes dry-cleaned.
Sunday, I'll rest.
Monday it's all about Volunteering.
