Chiefs (1-10) @ Raiders (3-8)

Looks like a fine match-up.

Actually, the Dungver beatdown has gotten THE NATION a little bit stirred up.
Smelling blood.

Just in time for the bleeding slits from fly-over country to show up.

KC's doing more on offense than they did earlier in the season when these teams played in week 2.
And they've had some CLOSE losses that could have been wins.
I credit Herm for playing to Thigpen's strength by spreading the field a lot with 3 and 4 receivers
It's also giving Diaper Boy more room in the middle of the field.

KC will score more than the 8 they put up last go-around.

On the flip side, KC has a truly HORRIBLE d-line, maybe the worst in the league, imo.
Oakland got it's run-game mojo back last week with McFadden and Fargas healthy and the o-line doing a job.
Did I mention smelling blood?
Yep.
Look for them to wear the Chefs down by beating on them time-and-again with the run.
200 yds rushing, at least, for Oakland here.

End result?

Raiders - 27
Chiefs - 20

And even worse LB's who can't tackle for shit. I swear it's like watching CFB. The first guy hardly ever brings a ball carrier down until he's gotten like another 5 yards after contact.

It's truly painful to watch.

The only bright spot on this team has been the play of Gonzo, who's having yet another Pro Bowl type season.

As for the end result, like Goobs said, nobody cares. At least the Chiefs don't appear all that interested in actually winning games.

Oh, I imagine they'll show up in the 1st half and keep it moderately close... and then the inevitable 3rd quarter meltdown/implosion occurs and it turns into a laugher.

No score prediction, but this could get ugly.

We're looking at massive ineptitude on both sides here.

My first though is it's going to be a truly ugly game to watch.

The Cheaps D couldn't stop a pack of angry girl scouts, so I'd say if the 'Duhs pound away on the ground like they did last week, they should win. But in typical 'Duh fashion, I can see them trying to air it out 30 times leading to a few INTs.

On the Cheaps O side, if they figure out how to run out of the spread the 'Duhs can be exploited. I think Oshinga shuts down Bowe - but that leaves Gonzo and Bradley to make some plays, which they've done.

This game really has more meaning to those of us on the board who've been betting with Tart though.
For the first time since we've started this annual ritual, the very real chance exists we'll be sending him some cash.

Cheaps - 24
Duh's - 20

The only person who can shut down D-Bowe... is D-Bowe. As in, if passes hit him right in the chest. Dude can make spectacular catches with a defender draped all over, but then drop routine balls. I don't know why that is. Lack of concentration I guess.

Bull.

He's an extremely gifted athlete with all the tools to be an outstanding WR... if he can ever put it together for 60 minutes.

This is only his 2nd season, playing with a shit team, and he's still putting up some very respectable numbers.

58 receptions, 724 yards, 6 TD's does not suck.

Compare that to the #1 WR in the league, Anquan Boldin.

73 receptions, 877 yards, 11 TD's.

Granted, Boldin has missed two games after getting his jaw broke.

The biggest difference is that Bowe has been thrown to 116 times while Boldin only 105. So basically Bowe catches 1/2 the balls thrown his way while Boldin snags about 3/4.

Let the board know exactly how you feel the first time you see Aso run Bowe's fucking route for him. I'm not kidding-he's that epic. This past week, Ratahan and Cutler called him the best CB in the league by far. Cutler said he always shuts down half of the field for him when they've played each other.

Fuck Bowe's overrated ass. He's gonna suck dick once Gonzo retires. Another blown Queen Carl pick.

How's Dorsey doing, btw?

Meanwhile, our #1 pick is about to slam his silver and black emblemed marblebag squarely against the aghast eyeballs of TDOTRF. Its going to hit you like a grease tidal wave that would surely ensue if it reached desert temperature in KC..........you'll recognize his style, and cringe mightily. Because Al did it again with this pick.

Bowe has a chance to become a real good receiver in the NFL, but I wouldn't look for a huge game from him this Sunday.
Asomugha is an EXCEPTIONAL corner right now.
Chris Johnson is turning into a pretty nice little player too.

Tony G is Tony G, but he honestly hasn't had BIG games the last three go 'rounds with Oakland.
5 for 39 and 1 TD
3 for 48 and 0 TDs
4 for 66 and 0 TDs

Thank you, Michael Huff.

I see a spotty passing show by KC come Sunday.

They'll hit a few, but not steadily.

I more fear LJ getting big yards in the middle of the field.

Oakland is going to be JACKED for this game, boys.

Fun times!

RJ, it's cute how you can go from abject disgust with your team to sheer giddiness... all because of ONE recent win. It's not hard to find any number of quotes that make the above statement simply laughable.

Let's try this one on for size, see how it fits your gangly shoulders... not there's anything wrong with gangly shoulders.
I thought the 90's were horrifying.....those look like the good 'ol days now with this shit group of rich, young, talented pussies who would rather lay the hits down on Madden during film session than on the field. Bunch of spoiled pussy ass faggots.

These arent my fucking Raiders-these cunts that are simply filling out a Raider jersey and laughing all the way to the bank after getting thier heads stomped in is fucking deplorable. Thats officially it for me-I will not be rooting these overpaid pussies on any longer after the straight out quitting I see out there today.
But now you're all about the Silver and Black again? Oh, ok...

Freaking priceless.

I will always take a special, special joy in watching my team beat the fucking piss out of KC for the rest of my life. Fuck the goddamn chiefs, fuck thier IKYABWAI stuttering ass fans, and fuck you, assplug.

There is nothing more inept than that fake field goal hike thru the legs fumble recovered for a KC TD. :)

WTF was that? Janikowski was gonna run for 10 yards? KC had containment sitting and waiting for him.

These games are certainly entertaining, but more on a WWF level....

3:30 to go, KC up 10 as I type this.

It's over.
Oakland ball, a turnover waiting to happen.

Props to the Chiefs.
They made some plays and Oakland made almost none.

Just goes to show that for 90% of the teams in the league, momentum is a week-to-week thang.

Cable's gameplan sucked hairy dick, btw.
Came out running all kinds of 'cutsey' shit when he needed to just line the guys up and slam it at KC all day long.

Ponderous.

No QB spy, no double cover on Gonzo (the only fucking target Thigpen is throwing to), No sacks until deep in the 4th Q.....FUCK ROB RYAN. Goddamn I hate that fucking grease sneezing cunt. FUCK. Blitz you fucking tampax filled jizzmitt. FUCK.

Then again, its a miracle that Alcula's bitch is even roaming the sidelines while being pregnant with The Count's demon seed. Fucking fat preggo piece of shit. Nice fucking calls too, Cable. As usual, Fargass gets twice as many carries as the TRUE stud RB DMac, and does twice as little. Suck a fat dick, FarGlass.

Death, taxes, and the Chiefs own the Raiders.

5 straight in Chokeland.

Keep your heads up lil 'duh buddies... one of these days you'll be able to not have 1-10 KC waltz into your own backyard and not rape your wimmen and children... maybe next year.

All is right in the world.

If G. Wilson doesn't drop that GIMME interception near midfield with the game tied 10-10, I think Oakland prolly wins this game.

The ol' "If my aunt had a package ..." yeah, I know.

James wrote:No QB spy, no double cover on Gonzo
Bingo.

KC is not as hard to defend as the 'duds made them.
You know Thiggy wants to hurt you with his legs as much as with his arm.
You "spy" him all game long with one player.
You TAKE AWAY the run option.

Once you realize (early on) that you don't have someone to cover Gonzo, you double him and TAKE AWAY that option.

Then what you've got is a team in a position to try to beat you with players that they DON'T feel comfortable beating you with.

It's pretty elementary stuff.
Not surprising, really, that it's over our staff's head.

Cable was a joke today.
The ridiculous FG fake was perhaps THE dumbest things I've seen all year.
Sure, it's golden if it works, but the Pollock would have had to lumber 17 yds to reach a first down.
I don't like my chances there.
Why not take the shot at 3 pts ... which you would probably get?

Far too much trickery on offense and not enough meat and potatoes.

It was really the "Lets dream up a losing gameplan" effort by the coaching staff.

Fucking unreal.

... well, not really.

Funny Shit from the Joe Posnanski Blog:
. I have a special sympathy for television announcers who get stuck with terrible football games. This week’s unlucky duo was Bill Macatee and Steve Beuerlein, who got stuck announcing the Chiefs-Raiders game. And so Macatee gets special kudos for pulling of a great line … early in the game, the Raiders tried what had to be the single dumbest fake field goal in the history of the world. It was dumb in about 384 different ways — not the least of which: “YOU DO NOT FAKE FIELD GOALS AGAINST TERRIBLE TEAMS.” Those words should be on the first page of every “So You Want To Be A Football Coach” book along with the ultimate two-point conversion rules, which I will get to in a minute.

Anyway, in addition to the sheer stupidity of faking a field goal against the absolutely terrible Kansas City Chiefs, it was also the worst designed fake in the history of mankind — the idea apparently was to flip to the ball to 30-year-old kicker Sebastian Janikowski and have him run for the 10 yards necessary to pick up the first down. Now, what exactly would have to happen for this plan to work? I suppose if one of the other Raiders could have released some sort of a gas that made all the defenders fall asleep it might have worked, depending on how long-lasting the gas was. I suppose if the earth suddenly opened up and swallowed all the Chiefs defenders, it might have worked, assuming one of those Chiefs did not punch his arms through the ground like in “Night of the Living Dead.” Other than that, no, it had no chance.

And, of course, it not only failed, but it failed comically, as only the Oakland Raiders can. The ball was pitched to Janikowski, he could not catch it, a Chiefs defender picked up the ball and ran it back for a touchdown.

So now we move to action in the fourth quarter, when Macatee and Beuerlein were clearly punchy from watching so much mind-numbingly bad football. There was some promotion for David Letterman’s “Stupid Human Tricks.” Beuerlein said, “Do you do any stupid human tricks?” And Macatee muttered, so that only those listening carefully could hear it, “I can think of a fake field goal that could be on there.” Give that man a raise and a better game next week.

I won't try to defend the fake FG because I DO think it was the dumbest idea (except for Lane Kiffin's 76 yd FG try) I have seen all year by any team, BUT ...

... as I watched the replay a few times, I think that perhaps the idea there was for Lechler to between-the-legs-it to Janikowski who was then going to THROW the ball downfield to TE T. Stewart, who had released downfield on the play.

It's one of those plays where if it works the coach looks like a genius and if not ... he looks laffable.

It resulted in a gimme TD for KC, and as I saw it, there was just no good reason to TRY a fake FG at that point in the game, against a terrible team, on a 4th and 10.

Take the fuggin' points when you can get them.

Whitlock humor

Carl and Al: LOL for BFF
I am not at liberty to explain how I obtained a confidential instant-message exchange between Chiefs president/general manager Carl Peterson and Raiders owner Al Davis.

But I was able to verify that if this computer communication between Peterson and Davis did indeed happen on Tuesday, it reveals a troubling and hilarious relationship between two of the most outdated and inept football executives working today.

Enjoy.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Al, I apologize for not being able to personally thank you following our big victory over your Raiders on Sunday. It goes without saying that I will forever be in your debt.

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: Carl, don’t worry about it. Anything the Raiders organization can do to keep you employed within our division we are committed to making happen. We’ve read the reports back here that Clark Hunt is thinking about replacing you. The Raiders do not want to see that happen. We hope that 2-14 is enough progress for Clark to keep you and Herm Edwards around for at least one more season.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Al, we feel the same way about you here in Kansas City. The Chiefs need you in charge in Oakland so we have a shot at avoiding last place in the AFC West. Your stewardship of the Raiders has given us great pleasure in Kansas City. We love what you’re doing with JaMarcus Russell. I’m not sure we could’ve won that game without JaMarcus’ assistance.

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: Again, don’t worry about it. After the way Tyler Thigpen played in the first game, we felt like we owed you the best of JaMarcus Russell. If you notice, we made a point of putting the game in his hands rather than Darren McFadden’s.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: That was great. McFadden ran for 160 yards in the first game, and he only ran it seven times in Oakland. THANK YOU!!!

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: We owed it to you. Hell, you drafted Glenn Dorsey. Would it really be fair for us to get maximum production from our talented rookie when your overweight rookie can’t get off the line of scrimmage? I wouldn’t do that to you, Carl. We’ve been milking the NFL for money for too long together for me to take advantage of your inability to draft.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Hey, you drafted JaMarcus Russell No. 1 overall. He’s as bloated and out of shape as our defensive tackle. We both know how to screw up a high draft pick.

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: Quit being so defensive. We all have our weak spots. You can’t draft and I run off good coaches. I’m comfortable with my weaknesses.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: I drafted Derrick Thomas, Tony Gonzalez and Larry Johnson. You can’t hit them all.

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: You know what Derrick Thomas, Tony Gonzalez and Larry Johnson will get you?

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: What?

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: One playoff victory since 1993.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: LOL. That’s about as funny as Tom Cable as head coach. Was Larry The Cable Guy unavailable? Wouldn’t return your calls?

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: Easy, Carl. Your guy Herm isn’t exactly setting the world on fire. He’s a defensive “guru” and his defense can’t get off the field.

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Hey, why are we taking shots at each other? We both got what we wanted this weekend. I got a victory and can lie to my fan base and claim we’re making real progress. You helped me remain employed through the holidays. Happy Holidays, Al!

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: Happy Holidays to you, too. Speaking of the holidays, my wife saw a wonderful black leather trench coat she thought would be perfect for you. Are you still wearing the old one we got you as a thank you for selecting Trezelle Jenkins?

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Funny you should mention Christmas. My wife and I were on the Plaza shopping the other night and spotted a lovely black leather sweat suit we thought you might like. And actually you sent me the original trench coat when I gave Carlton Gray a record contract. When we drafted Trezelle, you just sent flowers.

DarthRaider@oldncrazy.com: My memory is so bad. I can’t keep straight all the gifts I sent you. But I’ll never forget the black Mercedes we got you when you chose Elvis Grbac over Rich Gannon. You still driving that?

KingCarl@huntmoney.com: Hey, Al, it was good catching up. I gotta go. Mike Shanahan just e-mailed, and I have to assure him our defensive ends will continue to be fooled on every bootleg.
