Black Friday Claims it's first victim

Amazing to me it took this long for someone to get trampled.

I was at Sam's Club at 5 AM to get my kids the Wii bundle set - which was a pretty good deal.
More to the point of saving some jack, was the Wii all sold out last Xmas and I figured even in the shit economy those would be a hot tocket item. I'd already tried to nail a few of the on-line deals, but they were all Out-of-stock and I didn't want to chance it.

Down the strip center from Sam's was the Wally world and when i pulled into the lot at 4:45 the line was snaked down at least a block to the door. At 5:00 AM I heard this loud screaming from 400 yards down from the Sam's line and there was a mad rush from all the lurkers in parking lot that said fuck this line shit. The closest I could envision would have been that stampede for the Who concert in Cinn 20 years ago when they had festival seating.

At least the Sam's was organized, they walked thru and gave pull tickets for the Wii system to those in line. They were giving out tix for the Wii fit too (not on my list) and some people at the back got bent beacuse they only had a limited supply and those were gone after the first 50 or so.

So $425 and 20 minutes later, my kids will get the Wii they've been whinning for under the tree. Spoiled fucking kids*.

*OK - I'll be playing the games too - everybody I talk to says it fun as hell.

Went to the stories early this morning to scope out the young mothers. Got nailed by security attempting upskirt shots with his camera phone.

Seriously, latest word: the victim was employed by temp agency and he was there for maintenance work. Another employee was nearby, was pushed to the floor and had to fight people off of him. The idiots outside had unhinged the door and twisted it like an accordian with the force of the rush.

Authorities have to rely on security cameras to identify those responsible. They closed the store after the incident and re-opened it at 1:00 p.m.

Two dead after shots fired in Toys 'R' Us

Associated Press

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- A shooting inside a Toys "R" Us on the busiest shopping day of the year killed two people, authorities said.

The violence erupted on Black Friday, the traditional post-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping surge, but accounts of what occurred inside the store were fragmentary or second hand and it was not clear whether it involved any shopping frenzy.

The Palm Desert Police Department received calls of shots fired around 11:35 a.m., Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez said. He said officers were still investigating what prompted the gunshots.

Immediately after the shooting, about 20 people rushed into the World Gym across the street from Toys "R" Us, the gym's assistant manager Glenn Splain told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

"They were crying, tearing and shaking," Splain said, adding that one woman came in cradling a baby.

"Some people got into a fight," said Splain, who spoke with some of the customers. "One of the guys here thought it was over a toy, but it got louder and louder and then there were gunshots."

Sarah Pacia of Cathedral City told The Desert Sun newspaper she was in the store with her two boys, ages 4 and 6, looking at coloring books when she heard a commotion in the next aisle. She thought it was people rushing to get a sale item. Then she heard three or four shots.

She said she froze, and store employees calmly escorted her out of the store.

"This is Toys "R" Us. There are kids shopping in there," Pacia said. Her son Jayden, 4, was clinging to her leg. He told her he didn't want to die, she said.

Toys "R" Us officials did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

Palm Desert is about 120 miles east of Los Angeles.

Your nation is on the edge of bankruptcy and people are killing themselves attempting to spend money on rubbish.

What a fascinating study in mass psychosis Americans have become.

Sure is. That's the real legacy of our "war of terror." A war we couldn't afford in the first place, but yet, all the blood-sucking neo-conservative and hawks wanted.

Thanks a lot, assholes. Breadline, here I come.

Was actually almost 30 years ago, during my first semester in college.

Time flies and shit.

Too bad my YouTube wasn't up and running in those days.

I'd've blow a couple single hitters and laffed like a hyena as smelly hippies waved their arms and screeched at the bottom of the pile.

Good times.

First thing I noticed when viewing that pic was .....

....fukking cornrows.

Yet another reason to back up my idea that this country would be a much nicer place if we just shot on site every cornrowing wearing fukk out there.

I can't believe I was actually tempted to go out on Black Friday to get my new TV but I was lucky to find a great deal during the week and I didn't have to deal with those nuts. The holiday season is a joke. Capitalism is fine and good but it's bastardized a once good holiday.

Yea, it's totally ruined the celebration of Sol Invictus.

Anybody who participates in the "Black Friday" hysteria is a fucking idjit.

Why anybody feels the need to do this is completely beyond me. I slept in and relaxed yesterday after spending all day Thursday cooking, eating and getting buzzed. Thought about going out to Costco to get their deal on a 52" LCD but very quickly thought the better of it. There will be plenty of deals to be had between now an Christmas (as if that's what Christmas is all about). If you think you need somethig bad enough to go out at 5 am the day after Thanksgiving and fight that hysterical mob then you might seriously consider rethinking your priorities.

It's a Sharp Aquos.
Regular at Costco it's $1699. Friday through tomorrow it's $300 off with the mailer coupon. I can remember when I paid that much for a 26" Sony that weighed about 2400 pounds. That thing lasted about 20 years though and still had a good picture when one of the speakers finally went belly up.

I have a 32 inch trinitron that I picked up for 75 bucks from some dude that just bought some new fancy shmancy 99 inch something or other.

Mine must be a newer model, as it is bigger than yours and I am fairly sure that it was less than one ton. Not by much though.

Didn't list anything to be thankful for on thanksgiving. Guess it would have to be that there are tools out there that will part with the best fuggin' TV ever made for pocket change to buy new inferior shit.

I paid that same amount for my 46" Aquos with the Aquos Blu-Ray Player, it's an outstanding TV. Picked mine up at Best Buy Super Bowl Week, they also gave me 2 years Interest Free and a shitload of rewards points that I used on a External hard drive and some HD Movies. I absolutely agree with the statement about Black Friday shoppers, what a bunch of fucking idiots.

Whoah! Hold on! Time out! Take a breath....now...are you suggesting that because the photographic evidence indicates that one hundred percent of the "blitzline" morning shoppers at the Valley Stream WalMart were of some distinct African heritage...that this means something?

This is a horrible story. The herd mentality is a well known fact among animal kingdom experts. What many don't realize is that it also exists in the human mammal. When a few at the front of the group go wild it becomes like a wildfire and the rest of the pack just goes wild too. Even intelligent people can become emotionally charged and act like wild animals in such a situation. I wonder if Wal Mart failed somehow in this incident. My heart goes out to the one killed.

I have a miserable life and wish I were dead!

Well, they did have to shut down the store for a few hours, and that probably cost them some sales.
