Pollard needs to go. He's ruined a decent athletic department. McCarney had the football program respectable and Wayne Morgan did nothing to deserve to get fired. Both programs have gotten worse under the coaches he hired and promised greatness to the fans to.

There isn't going to be much of an impressive list...

Maybe they could convince Turner Gil, but I think that's unlikely.

My guess is Steve Loney will be the guy. I really can't think of anyone else that has decent credentials they could go after- though I'm not sure Loney's credentials really are that high.

Ken (O)'Keefe, Chuck Long, DAN MCCARNEY, Ron Prince.......I dunno who else.

I have no clue. I'm still kind of shocked. First of all, I didn't think Chizik would leave this early. I could understand if we had improved this year and next year made a bowl. I could see schools looking at him. I honestly thought the whole thing was a joke when I heard about it. I'm still amazed Auburn hired him and paid him the money they did.

p.s. Why is it that JON has to answer everytime I am asked about the Cyclones?

Probably because theJON believes that he knows all there is to know about college football, plus, I think he's really a closet Cyclone fan....at least when ISU is winning the game.
Kind of. Except you have it backwards. I tend to root for ISU when they really suck. Not sure why. Used to cheer for the Clones back when I was younger as long as they weren't playing the Hawks. The only other time I've cheered for the Clones was when they played Florida State in 2002. Well, I was golf clapping because I sat press box for that one and they have gay rules about not cheering in the press box.

I bet they interview Mark Farley. Not sure if they'll hire him. It would be a terrible hire if they did. ISU wouldn't win more than 4 games ever under him. He could never recruit. 1-AA coaches could never make it at ISU. Guys like Tressel can make it at an Ohio State because the school recruits on itself. Tressel had so many ties with the Ohio high schools and so he could load up on players from the state, and then he could recruit out of state because they're Ohio State. Can't do that in Iowa. There's not many big shot recruits here and Iowa State can't recruit nationally on name. If Pollfraud hires Farley, he not only won't be able to sell tickets but the program will completely fall apart.

Turner Gil is not coming to ISU. I saw in the Rag they listed Brady Hoke as a potential candidate. Are you fucking kidding me?

Bob Elliott would not be a great hire, though he may be able to recruit better than some of the other candidates because he would just copy Bill Snyder's questionable recruiting methods.

I think Ron Prince or Ty Willingham should be guys Iowa State looks at. Willingham has ties out west and to the Midwest so he might be able to recruit well enough at a school like ISU. I can't imagine him getting any better of a job either. Same goes for Ron Prince, though I'm not sure he could recruit as well as Willingham.

Gill would be a great hire, could be a hard get though. Could give a Bowden or Tubberville a call but I'd image they're going to sit on their asses til the next round of firings come.

Could chase some guys like Graham, Holtz, Calhoun, or Hoke.

Out of coordinators I'd look at Bud Foster from Va Tech. He is a hell of a coach that gets the most out of his guys.

If Prince picks up a phone and calls recruits, he is a better recruiter than Willingham.

Prince already has job lined up, but I'm sure he would take a head job over that of a position coach.

my grandfather has told me stories about the good ol' days when bud foster was always mentioned as a great coordinator who'd make for a solid hire at head coach. every year: bud foster bud foster bud foster. why does anyone bother even mentioning him? he's not going anywhere.

I hope not because, if he ever leaves, VT's football program will go back to the Dark Ages.

OU co-OC Jay Norvell was a candidate back before Chizik got hired. Maybe they'll give him a look.

I've heard he may be interviewed. I'm not that high on him.

I've also heard...Mike Stoops, Todd Graham/Gus Malzahn, and Pat Hill.

I'd go with Graham. He is a quality HC in the Leach/Briles mold that will create some excitement.

Rumormill now is that Mike Stoops might be the guy. Maybe he doesn't like his chances against BYU and thinks a loss puts him back on the hotseat. Sounds a little farfetched but you never know I guess.

We have a couple of local retards (Marty and Miller radio show) that broke this. It's how the story got going. Don't listen to any rumor these idiots say. They're always wrong.

It does make sense......sorta. Stoops' contract at Arizona didn't get renewed so he's kind of a lame duck coach. So this would give him a fresh start and a new contract. And on top of that he's got ties to Iowa (former Hawkeye player/coach) and the Big-12 (at OU). So that makes some sense.

BUT, he's been very mediocre at a similar type of football program and he's a former Hawkeye. I've heard a lot of upset Clone fans at the prospects of yet another Hawkeye taking over their program. I understand that. But if you want a guy with Iowa ties (and I've seen many of them say this), you basically gotta get a Hawkeye? I mean, who in the Clone family is qualified for a Big-12 job? The Hayden Fry coaching tree is very impressive and there's a history of coaches in the tree turning programs around and this is what ISU needs.

But I doubt Stoops is the guy. The Stoops' are buddies with McCarney and so they know of the challenges at ISU. McCarney worked his ass off for 13 years at that school and it ruined his career. He'll never be a head coach again because of his record. Granted, he's an assistant at Florida now but once a head coach you always wanna be a head coach. If Stoops has even spoken to ISU, I'm sure he's contacted Danny Mac for a reference and I highly doubt Dan was encouraging him to take the job. Yes, McCarney loved ISU but he knows the headaches that go along with a job like that.

Besides, Hayden Fry has criticized Jamie Pollard for firing McCarney and so I doubt Hayden's been encouraging Mike to go to ISU.

Who knows what's going on. It will probably be someone completely out of left field. Jamie Pollard does a great job keeping these quiet and the last hire (Chizik) came out of nowhere. My guess is this will happen again.

I think by Monday they'll have a coach. Just haven't a clue who it will be.

i don't think Jay Norvell has coached 2 years in a row at the same place in the last 6-7 years. he's bounced around the NFL....he took the OU WR job for 3 days a few years ago. then took a job with the Raiders.

i said this before about Kevin Sumlin, this is Kevin Wilson's show and has been. not saying either Sumlin or Norvell aren't good O minds or don't contribute....but the co-OC thing is pretty overstated.

I'm kind of torn with this one. He wasn't the "flashy" hire a lot of fans were hoping to get. But ISU went that route the last time and it backfired. I will wait to see how it plays out. Does anyone know what regions he recruited from while at Auburn? Was he a good recruiter?

Not a great hire, I'd have leaned towards a guy that could give the O a spark and attract some talent. But he's a solid DC that will believe in the program and not just see it as a stepping-stone. But they could've done worse.

You should try reading a newspaper sometime, JONboy, and quit watching MSNBC for your news stories.
I'm more of a CNN and Fox News viewer than MSNBC actually. If I'm watching MSNBC it's so I can watch for that one episode of To Catch a Predator where you swore on a holy stack of Bibles that you had no intentions of having intercourse with that little girl, you just wanted to come and warn her of all the predators out there. I don't think Chris Hansen was buying your excuse but don't worry Mace......I believe you.
Andy Fales is an annoying moron, which is why he reminds me of you.
Fales is hilarious. The Whats Buggin' Andy segment got old years ago, but he's funny with Murph on the radio when they've filled in for other hosts. You should go have a beer with the guy sometime, he's actually a very cool dude.
Yeah, Hansen was a good columnist....Keeler, not so much....but, like I said, what other paper you gonna read, twatlips?
Oh, I dunno......the internet?? The Rag is a joke. I get the paper. I whipe my ass with it. Keeler's face looks much better covered in my shit.
