I read on a UM blog a couple days ago that there were 2 possible candidates and that which ever one was chosen would be well recieved by the fans. It may be blogospheric speculative shit, but the guy did know that the end for Schafer was close at hand.

And for the record, I am happy with the move. I know I've been understated about my position on the DC but now that he's gone there's no need to hide my true feelings.

Has Clemson closed on Chavis from Tenn yet? He'd be a good get. Koenning is supposed to be KSU-bound, he'd also be good. John Tenuta was always good at Ga Tech.

I think it'll be either Corwin Brown (ND, former UM player) or Paul Rhoads (Auburn's former DC). There's been a little chatter about Casteel, RR's DC at West Virginia, but I don't think Ann Arbor will put up with another guy who runs the 3-3-5.

I would prefer Brown here. An ex-player and said to be a beast recruiter in his time at ND. Who better to sell UM than a guy who wore the winged helmet. I don't know his contract situation, but I think he could be gotten.

That's fine...Forcier is supposed to be the better of the two anyway.

Also, you brought up Paul Rhoads a d-coor candidate...he just took the head coaching job at Iowa State.

I did see that about Rhoads. I think now it'll be a promotion to DC for Jay Hopson.

Why in heaven's earth would UM want somebody from a non-elite school like that to coach them? :P
Lots of great coaches have to climb the ladder to get to the really good jobs. Gene Chizik, Will Muschamp are two prime examples. I'm willing to bet that when Chizik has a little success at allbarn he will get that really good coaching gig he always wanted, like Notre Dame, or FSU or even Nebraska.

Allbarn is a rung on the ladder to get to many elite programs.
