Ok after giving props to the Horns (they deserve it) Colt's Mom and Sister - would love to run the train on them...I now RANT

FUCK YOU JIM TRESSEL...yeah I said it...FIVE FUCKING HUGE GAMES IN A ROW and you and your pathetic game planning can't show up...what the FUCK...playing for FG's in the first half...4th and 2 and you try a 51 yard FG instead of going for it...they got the same fucking field position if you had not made it...at least act like you have some balls...I am tired of this act...get a QUALITY offensive coordinator and let him design a game plan and call plays...then just stand on the side lines with your sweater vest and manage the corporation...

I am tired of this shit...yeah they fought...yeah they took the lead...but played for field goals in the first half...pathetic 3rd quarter and your defense can't get a stop in the 4th quarter to save their lives...

FUCK...FUCK...yeah I am a little pissed after letting it sink in...

After Texas gave up on the run game with the RBs, I am sure Colt loved the blitz on every snap. Pretty damn easy to complete passes when the middle is wide open.

All in all not a bad year for either team, both of which were supposed to be rebuilding.

I'm not going to go "you should be happy to be there" considering you guys have been in the hunt for several years now and just one MNC to show for it. I'd understand how frustrating it would be to have a strong season and then play in important/high profile bowl games only to get curb stomped. Granted, last night wasn't as a bad a loss as the last two title games. I flipped the game off midway through the fourth so I'm not going to critique how the ending shook out.

I wouldn't dare throw around the Braves or Bills tag for you guys. I'd rather be in that spot each than be in the spot Michigan has been in. You guys carry the torch for the Big Ten although I'm not as big of a conference honk as most of the others are in here. I'm not bothered by 1-6 with the Big Ten...it was expected and I don't root for other Big Ten teams anyways. The only team I root for was licking their wounds after a brutal 3-9 season. Ha ha, you lost but I'll at least say it sucks to lose at the very end.

True on most counts...

Lefty...OSU had almost everyone in the 2 deep back...this was a year for them to take the Hill...

Yeah it sucks...yeah taking it on the chin from the talking heads...but damn...

I know Mace...

but after letting it sink in and this being the THIRD BCS game and THIRD big game this year...it just gets old...

Exactly.

Had this discussion with a little more casual fan than encountered here...

Tressel shows up at the door, and sells his snake oil with "We were this close, son, but with you on board, it will be that extra bit we need to clear that last hurdle."

Heck, one could almost spin it that being this close and presenting the team to a recruit in that way is possibly an easier sell than pitching a guy to sit for 2 years behind a superstar on the MNC team... just food for thought.

Buckeye,

Any team with a frosh QB starting is rebuilding IMO. But I see where you are coming from.

WTF was going on with Pryor heading for the sidelines rather than a first down? You're in the Fiesta Bowl, there is no next week to preserve yourself for, fukking battle.

Pryor will be a good qb for OSU, he was only a true frosh, but I'd still take Griffith from Baylor. Griffith would be scary as hell with a strong supporting-cast.

OSU probably should've been more aggressive when they had first-half opportunities. You're not likely to shut down a Texas for two halves.

But they did make it closer than expected and came seconds away from completing the upset, props on that.

seriously, get pissed at tressel for attempting a fg in a game he lost by, what, three points? omfg what a coincidence!!

you guys are fucking bipolar. one week he runs up his record against michigan and he's so fucking awesome and the next he loses a close game against a better team and he can now stab himself in the face? or he's OMFG CUTE because he runs up a good bcs record playing kansas state and notre dame but now he's a pos after dropping a few against much better teams? here's a hint: don't flip your shit when he loses to purdue and you're in the citrus bowl playing a team you're better equipped to handle.

you must have me confused with someone else...I have been pretty critical of him for a couple of years now...

exactly, right about when he "inexplicably" began losing bcs games to teams much better than his.

tressel is what he is: he beats the teams he's better than and loses to the teams he's not. that's not necessarily a bad thing considering how good he is at stockpiling talent.

Actually I was pretty critical back when Zwick was the QB and the team was in flux...plus you throw in the the 2005 Texas 2 QB deal and then the horrid performance at PSU that year...so no...for me at least it hasn't been since he lost to UF...

Yeah he beats who he is supposed to...but ask a Buckeye Fan...I would give you back a win over michigan in the last few years for a BCS win...

i'm not sure what there is to be pissed about?

1. Played Tejas down to the wire, almost won a game they weren't supposed to be in.
2. Was able to play in a BCS game they didn't deserve. Boise or TCU were more deserving.
3. Your freshman QB got big game experience many times in his first season, he was definitely seasoned this year, so next year he will build on what he learned his first season. He could of been sharing the QB duties, and only getting part time big game exp, instead he got all of the snaps and will be better for it.

Tough lost but damn good game. The Buckeyes showed up. Damn sight better than the last two BCS bowls and USC. Take that to the naysayers. The team played with guts but the breaks didn't go their way.

Texas was the superior team. Everyone knew it. They were supposed to beat tOSU by, how many, 3-4 TDs? There were several things that went wrong:

- Not taking care of opportunities in the 2nd qtr.
- Those two roughing the passer penalties.
- Not adjusting to the hurry-up offense in the 3rd qtr.
- Beanie sitting out in the 2nd half.
- A couple of bad calls.
- and so on.

When you start counting all of this you have to realize: hey, the game's over and Texas came away with the V. They were the team with possession at the end and with seconds left made a great play.

Figure this out. Colt McCoy passed for over 400 yards yet Texas scored only 24 points.

trade some of those wins away and you're not in the bcs to begin with.

you're hyperventilating. oftentimes there's not much difference between 12-0 and 9-3. circumstance dictates a lot, and quite frankly, tressel has spoiled you. there's absolutely nothing to bitch about last night save that safety trying to make the big play. what, too conservative because he relied on beanie's fragile physique last night? uh, it worked. the problem is that football is the only sport where "bend don't break" counts as an axiom. your kicker could've made his first attempt from 60 yards, and had he made the second texas would've been going for two to tie the game at the end. osu's offense didn't do anything the third quarter because they spent the entirety of it on the bench, and then they went ahead and scored two tds in the fourth. even on that last drive they were playing aggressively, something you would have asked for had they played prevent. dude should have simply stayed behind the texas receiver.

Uh, Lefty......Buckeyes were preaseason #2 (or was it #3) team. Last year was supposed to be their rebuilding year.

I'd be pissed at Tress' clock management at the end of the game. Why hurry and score leaving a hot Texas offense so much time to march down to win the game? Shoulda taken some knees forced Texas to use their last 2 TO's run the clock down and won it with a late fg. But that wouldn't be sexy.

ah, i don't know about that. team has to go the length of the field and score a TD to beat you in 2 minutes....that's how Tressel thinks. they could have bled the 2 minutes, no doubt, but you take the TD when you get it. look at Pryor run out of bounds on a sure first down in the 1st quarter....penalty and 3rd an 1 turns into 3rd and 6....that's a FG.

one minute to go, up 18-17, and all UT needs is a FG is no bargain. how much clock can you run? because you have to run a play after UT calls TO.

i think you take 1. 2 minutes and 2. opponent needs a TD over the FG scenario.

i don't think you can question coaching too much when you are 5 inches away from a 4th down stop that wins the game for you as a 10.5 underdog.

My two cents.

Pryor scared the hell out of me. I now understand how it felt for everyone else when Vince did the shit Pryor did. You guys are going to love the next two/three years with him. He will get better and you will more than likely win another championship with him.

I was disappointed in Colt in the first half, he never ran once and he had ample opportunities to do so. Kept asking what the hell was wrong with him. He also missed a number of easy throws where the runningback/receiver was wide open. Our DBs came to play but our linebackers were MIA, we have QBs that can run pretty damn well so its not like they couldn't get a good look at a mobile QB during practice. What the hell with all the damn missed tackles.

Congrats on a great game and I sure as hell don't want to play you guys again next year, but I will make an exception if its for the MNC.

By the way, I have mourned for more than a week but I am here to give a late congrats to all the Texas fans on this board-- Harv, Vito, campinfool to name a few. That was a very difficult loss to handle, but I honestly can't think of a team I would have rather lost to in that way. I gotta helluva lot of respect for Mack Brown, his program, and Longhorn fans. I have been privileged enough to have gone to all three games between the two schools, and though we are down in the series, all three games have been nothing short of fantastic. I shared some of the same initial thoughts that _sc did after the game ended, but I'm still really proud of how the tOSU players fought the whole game. Here's hoping for another bowl game or series between Ohio State and Texas very very soon. Seems these two teams bring out the best in each other.
