It seems these two really respect and enjoy each other's company.

3600 lbs of food donated by the two schools to Phoenix area food banks. WOW.
A ton of love

The Texas-Ohio State meeting in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl brought out a different kind of team effort Sunday morning, when a collection of staff spouses and fans from both schools got together to provide food for those in need in the Phoenix area.

When the Longhorns and the Buckeyes were matched in the game, Jim and Ellen Tressel called Mack and Sally Brown and made them aware of a tradition Ohio State had started of "giving back" at the site of their bowl trips. The Buckeye staff families had donated items for food banks at the game site, and Mack and Sally thought it would be great to do the same.

So Saturday, Sally and a group of coaches and staff wives purchased over 2,400 pounds of canned meats, soups, noodles, peanut butter, jelly and other food items, as well as socks for both men and women. Sunday, over 50 UT partisans met 200 Ohio State supporters to box food for 41,000 boxes of food for the needy through the St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, the nation's largest and first food bank. The groups also combined to sack 40,000 pounds of citrus fruits to be distributed with the boxes.

It was UT's first venture, and Ohio State's eleventh, so the Buckeyes had the experience, but the Longhorns provided the edge at the checkout counter. Texas donated 2,400 pounds of food, Ohio State, 1,200. But this was a team effort, and everybody came up a winner on this day.

"We really appreciate Jim and Ellen letting us join them on this," said Mack Brown, "and this is something we plan to borrow as a new tradition for us. Those of us who are invited to bowl games have been richly blessed, and it is important for us to remember to give back."

I couldn't give a crap about Texas, but in the last couple of years Mack Brown has become one of my favorite coaches. Dude's a class act and that's a rarity in that business. If I had a son, I would send him to play football for Mack Brown.

Rack that. But I suspect Kirk Ferentz would thank JON for sending the kid out of state.
He could be a kicker.

This needs to be addressed... if you're going to use it in a sig, and prop a self promoting piece of shit that spent peanuts on this venture for recruiting purposes... and made it public.

You do know the mafia has made this a practice for around a century.

there is the small issue of making it public so more people will participate. regardless of who, what, why, why, and for whom, not to mention the causes of hunger and homelessness in the first place, real people got to eat real food. gfy.

Yes, Mack and "the Vest" will end hunger... silly me.

They may actually get a couple more 5 stars in the process.

You don't know shit. And now you pretend to know my world. Really, I feel sorry for you.

Since your memory is so short or maybe you handn't yet found this community, the story of Amber Rogers was discussed in detail with this group. Amber, a family friend, was shot and killed during a bank robbery. In the early stages of the robbery Radio Fan was very helpful in feeding me info as he got it in the newsroom. Amber was one of three shot that day, but the only one who was killed.

Another friend, although one I didn't know as well as Amber, was killed by a gunman in their own home. While I didn't know the mother who was also killed, I did know the son quite well. Sad, sad story as the other son, also shot, admitted to setting up the murders. If interested you only need google Bart Whitaker.

SO, "truth", there are two people I know where were killed by guns. However, in both cases the guns were not at fault. Humans, sick fucked up humans, were the cause. I dare say that if Amber had had a gun that day at the bank, she might be alive today. For that exact reason I have a lpermit to carry a gun here in Texas. So does my wife.

Piss and moan and pretend you know everything that goes on in my life and then fuck off you little ankle biter. I haven't changed my sig in 2 plus years and you just keep trying to find something to get over on. Really pretty damn sad when all is said and done.

Think I may go to the range later today to put a few rounds thru the barrel.
