A conundrum for me

I'm currently reading Rise of Silas Lapham and have been for the past few months. Why has it taken me so long? Because the book is boring. It's horrible. The writing jumps around and it doesn't keep my attention and, when it does, it says little. However, I'm also 200 pages in. Therefore, I'm invested. I have a ton of books I want to get to but, unfortunately, am being delayed by this less than stellar work.

Anybody else ever had such a problem?

start reading from back to front.

starting off with say, the last twenty pages - the summary, puts you on a more equal footing with the author. It makes for better understanding and speeds up the way you digest the subject matter... when you go back to the beginning. :o

Ya' see, I really would. However, now, I'm in about 240 pages and have less than 100 left to go. I think I'll plug through. Might I say, this one's not a recommended reading.

100 pages and then pick up Red Badge of Courage.

You truly are a clever, if a bit vague, little girl.

I pray you are well and, should I not be sincere in that prayer, may God bless you doubly in spite of me. Take care.

Rather disgustingly rackable. At any rate, throw down Lapham without any hesitation and grab Stephen Crane.

290 pages down and 40 to go. Will soldier on to the end. No afterword for me with this one. Crane will be next. I would recommend WD Howells and Lapham to nobody. That is all.

A 5000 page book sucked, so you're not going to read the epilogue?

Well, I guess you sure showed that Howells guy who's boss.

bca, WGARA. GFYJO.

Short enough for your gnat-like attention span?

When you want to share your next conundrum involving reading, toiletries, or whether to spit or swallow, save it for your next script.

If you want a real page turner, try Foucault's Pendulum.
