Contrary to what Americans think...

...Africans largely don't give a rat's ass about our election. I just took a job out here in Angola and have been here for the past 5 weeks. From the conversations I've had with various people from a bunch of different countries ranging from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nigeria, and Sudan-- not to mention all the Europeans, very few care what is happening over in the US, despite what CNN and BBC keep trumpting.
Color me surprised. having been Stateside for the past 20 years, and enfolded in the warm embrace of our media, I had been hoodwinked into thinking the world truly *was* US-centric. That being said, the South Africans and Zimbabweans all are predicting in a few years we go down the path they've taking since apartheid ended.
Regardless, I'll be glad to come home for my month off tomorrow. Need some In-n-Out, and not all of the burger variety.
