Not only do we have a set of parents sharp enough to name their son “Nimrod”, he’s Nimrod the Fourth.
The secret is out on Madison East sophomore point guard Nimrod Hilliard IV.
"He's a player," East senior forward Marquis Mason said. "I consider him a very underrated player. Not many people know much about him."
Well, they will now. Hilliard scored 12 of his 16 points in the final 4 minutes, 30 seconds of the host Purgolders 53-44 upset victory over top-ranked Madison Memorial Friday night.
"For him to do what he did was just … amazing," concluded Mason, who led East with 20 points.
Hilliard's coming-out party was highlighted by his only 3-pointer of the night. With East trailing Memorial 39-38 with just over four minutes left in the game, Hilliard dribbled off a ball screen, put a crossover move on Memorial senior guard Xavier Jones and drained a pull-up 3 to give the Purgolders the lead.
"Right when I released it, it felt good," Hilliard said.
Memorial controlled most of the game, but East refused to fold under the Spartans' full-court pressure.

He’s good enough as a sophomore that he stands a decent chance of making it to a Division 1 program.

So if derogatory terms disappear from the lexicon over time, your grandkids could easily be cheering for players named Fucktard Jefferson IV and Dickbreath Jones, Jr.

Maybe they're religious people and it's a family biblical name.

And they'd still kick the shit out of the Iowa Cockeyes.

Oh, Goobs....you take things way too personal. I'm sure your Badgers will someday beat the Hawks again on the gridiron....I'm just not sure when that might happen.
10/17/2009 for football.
For basketball, much sooner.

For basketball....yeah, the next time they play. Football? Probably not next year.
Oh, yes. Next year it's in Madison, and you're going down. Not an unfamiliar scenario for you.

I'm quite fond of "nimrod" as an epithet.

I doubt anyone under the age of 68 has used the term "nimrod", so this is lost on his peers.

Probably, and it wouldn't surprise me if 'tart has a li'l Nimrod chasing after succulent-looking yappers for chow, given the name's background:
[Nimrod] is described as the son of Cush, grandson of Ham, great-grandson of Noah; and as "a mighty one on the earth" and "a mighty hunter before the LORD".
He also appears in the First Book of Chronicles and in the Book of Micah.
Nimrod is said to be the founder and king of the first empire after the Flood, and his realm is connected with the Mesopotamian towns Babylon (Babel), Uruk, Akkad and Calneh. He is mentioned in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10), where he is said to have founded many cities.
