Took the ball and chain to see it saturday.
Outfukkingstanding job by Clint. He has the role of bitter old man nailed. Good job also by the young zipperhead neighbor chick.
My only problem was the namesake car. His pride and joy a 1972 Gran Fukking Torino? What a smogged out anemic pos. Dude should have had a '69 fastback mustang. Then they could have called the movie The Boss.

Not really.
No cat, no airpump, no EGR. Only real difference was a larger combustion chamber.
A set of pre-72 quench-chamber (4V) Cleveland heads takes that motor straight out of the realm of "smogged out" (assuming he's got the 351, and not a big block, which would be a 429/460 Series, rather than an FE).
Assuming it's not forbidden by local emissions laws (which don't apply to pre-1975 models here), both the Windsor and Cleveland series lend themselves quite well to performance use, usually just takes a set of heads to do so (depending on vintage).
I saw the movie over the weekend, too. Pretty good, except Clint didn't kill gangbangers at the clip I was hoping for.

Well no shit, it could be desmogged. You can make most any motor a runner if you do a little work on it. I 'spose you could even take the 49 miles of vac hoses off a late 70s model, slap on a decent set of heads and have something. My point is that by 72 stock motors were already being choked of their HP by the emission nazis. It certainly was worse a few years later with unleaded fuel.
I concur about the gangbangers. I was hoping he was gonna go dirty harry on them and take them all out.
