It'd be a shame if that ship had an unfortunate accident and sank

hmmm.... interesting that a Coast Guard "team" is operating in the Red Sea. I guess the Navy must be stretched too thin.

Why is that interesting?

Doesn't the Coast Coard operate under the direction of the Navy during times of war? Furthermore, I believe its mission states something about protecting the US security interests in any maritime region, including international waters.

Semper Paratus, motherfucker.

Let's not leave up to chance, I say we poke a bunch of holes in it and make sure it sinks on purpose.

Might wanna try the "Mission" page on the USCG webpage.

I think there's some old Coasties here who probably have a definitive answer, but it's my understanding (I've never been un the USCG, but have worked at their bases on multiple occasions, fwiw) that the USCG is entirely under the direction of DHS since its formation... or so a Coastie told me.

Went to the commissioning ceremony Saturday in Long Beach of the fourth ship in her class, USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20). They all look like:

I am guessing that http://www.google.com would be a good starting point. Once you get there, type "United States Coast Guard" into the form and press enter.

The antiAmericanism here is digusting.

In humam history, no automaker has dedicated itself to the cause of covering the earth's surface in a thin layer of motor oil with the same vigor that Toyota has... not even close.

Sure, the old rope-style rear main on GMs was pretty bad (and became worthless if the owner ever added any graphite oil), and neither Ford nor GM ever seemed to come up with a valve cover gasket on a straight-6 that lasted long... but even they eventually redesigned the decades-long rule of shitty gaskets. Toyota kept making the same freaking VC gasket that started spewing as soon as you drove the thing off the lot forever and ever... and I doubt you'll find a mechanic that will disagree.

And considering the feds current views on keeping American jobs in America, I wouldn't doubt for a second that Toyota got the deal for all kinds of parts for the CG ships.

And to appease Whitey -- I used to drive a Toyota forklift that was quite the leaker... although it was a propane-fuelled Nissan engine (pretty much the same motor as the late 70's B210, but with a propane manifold). Buy Hyster.

Learn something new everyday.
The United States Coast Guard is a military, multimission, maritime service within the Department of Homeland Security and one of the nation's five armed services. Its core roles are to protect the public, the environment, and U.S. economic and security interests in any maritime region in which those interests may be at risk, including international waters and America's coasts, ports, and inland waterways.
Pardon my ignorance, but I had incorrectly assumed that the Coast Guard didn't operate in international waters, much less thousands of miles away in the Red Sea. I stand enlightened.

Which begs another stupid question. Has it always been this way, or just since 9/11 and the creation of the DHS?

Probably a squirter, too.
Buy Hyster.
Absolutely, a well made machine and smooth as silk to operate. I can see why you'd be fond of that company.
Hyster started as a small manufacturer of winches and lifting machines used in the logging and timber industry of the United States’ Pacific Northwest. The name originated from the call of the laborers who would shout “Hoist’er!” when a log was ready to be lifted.

Not from the "Pacific Northwest" -- from the capital of the Northwest. Although until recently, one of their big plants was right down the street from me here, where they were neighbors with Gerber Blades, FLIR Systems, and a bunch of other shit you've heard of that I can't think of right now.

Hyster made it first, and they still make it best (same theory works for auto-loader pistols from a different company, but that's a different thread).

Well since the Coast Guard has been running drug interdiction and rescues on the high seas for over 30 years...and they went 1400 miles out of Dutch Harbor to that sinking (sunk) boat..last fall....22 hour mission for the Pave Hawk helicopter

From the URL of the pic, looks like Alaska.

Looks to be a resident rainbow -- which would be a very nice example of a resident fish.

Don't get me wrong, it ain't no Salmonberry steelhead, but a nice example of a rainbow (sure looks like a fat 'bow in the pic, anyway).

BTW-my buddy found a trick to slaughtering the broodstock at Lost Lake (Mt Hood Lost Lake, not the 3 dozen other Lost Lakes, although I'll outfish any man alive at the Lost Lake off 26 in the Coast Range). Or is it Clear Lake? One of those two. I've never fished that pond with him, but come spring, he's going to show me the drill... and I'll listen and learn, since he's pulled so many of those brooders out of there in the last couple of years (when no one elsewas catching shit), he must be on to something. Same dude who I learned a "secret" to finding summer stellies away from the crowds below Rivermill, which just hasn't been the same in recent years (sidenote: when I say "trick" or "secret," it involves only legal, ethical techniques, no snagging/poaching/fishing closed waters involved... just time/place/technique tricks).

That shipname doesn't exist - there is a Russian freighter, 'Monchegorsk' registered in Cyprus that ran aground in the US years ago and had it's hull integrity re-confirmed in Tacoma.

How about if we sink an Israeli ship or two? You know, as a sort of reciprocity for the murderous attack they waged against the U.S.S. Liberty back in '68. What, do you suppose that the families of those 34 murdered American servicemen have just forgotten and forgiven?

This isn't the U.S.S. Cole, folks. This is the Liberty after being "accidentally" attacked for several hours by the IDF
Image

So let's stop worrying about how ridiculously thin we've spread our military forces, or just how lugubrious is its abstract war purpose. Let's start counting down the days until the ZioNazi malignancy is removed from the world body, eh? Because as you know, within ten years there will be a solid Arab Palestinian majority within the borders of Israel itself. So...more genocide by the IDF? More hysterical fear-mongering about Iran?

How about if we just start Waking Up!

When I say "we," I mean the American people, our military, our role in the world today. I mean the entire world body of nations and citizens who demand an end to vile artificial apartheid states. I do not speak for the Christers, the Rove Monkeys (that's you, babs), the military industrial whores, or the actual ZioNazis who sneak around in our midst.

Clear?

The 34 murdered U.S.servicemen demand as much.

The real pedo is Portlands mayor, Sam Adams.

On a side note, a buddy of mine is in the Coast Guard and was in charge of safety inpsections for all of Europe and Africa at one time. He was stationed near Amsterdam and would fly as far as South Africa to inspect drilling rigs. The Guard does a lot of stuff that you wouldn't expect all over the world.
