except when it involves a home game vs a top ten team.

Iowa is giving away 2,000 free tickets to students who have nothing better to do than go see their team host Michigan State. All they need is a printer and internet access. It's pretty sad to see how far Iowa hoops has fallen. Well, they didn't fall too far because they weren't all that high to begin with, but even under the troubled Alford era they were still competitive and respectable.

I took the 1 hour drive to Evanston a few weeks back to see Northwestern host MSU. Though Welsh Ryan is a small arena, and the MSU fanbase in Chicagoland is sizeable, I still didn't expect a sell out. No dice for me. Sold out, scalpers had nada, and I watched the game at an Evanston sports bar. And here's Northwestern, sharing the cellar with teams like Iowa. Ohio St, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, N'western, etc., all sell out for MSU. Iowa? Is reduced to giving away free tickets in a game vs a top ten team, and #1 in conference. Just...wow.

Hey, was this game being played at the wrestling arena?

Sincerely,

Anyone in Iowa City

Let's see, one Sweet 16 in 1999, in Dr. Tom's swan song. Aside from that, a whole lot of nothing. It's no surprise no one there gives a shit.

Carver-Hawkeye was always a tough, nasty place to play, even when Iowa wasn't very good. As an MSU fan, I rarely felt confident about beating Iowa on the road. That is until now. Even last year when Iowa sucked under Lickliter's first season, and MSU clearly had Iowa outmatched, they couldn't even muster 40 points and suffered one of the worst losses in the Izzo era. They went undefeated at home a few years ago.

My how the might...mediocre...have fallen (even further).

It's too bad. As an ISU fan it is bittersweet but when the ISU womens team is close to outdrawing the Iowa mens team it's just pathetic. The bad thing is that I think Lickliter is a really good coach but he'll either be forced out or leave because of lack of attendance.
