Tucsonans watching the Super Bowl got more action than they bargained for when a short clip from an adult movie channel interrupted Comcast's feed with full male nudity during the final moments of the game.
Officials at Comcast said about 30 seconds from Club Jenna, an adult cable television channel, were shown on the local Super Bowl telecast. The company was still working Sunday night to figure out how it happened.
I can see it now - Roethlisberger scrambles around in the final moments of the game, eluding tacklers, and sees a breaking Santonio Holmes to the right of the end zone. He heaves it where only Holmes can catch it, and precisely at the moment when Holmes extends and stretches for the ball...
My buddy is from Tucson and just got the replay from his mom...yes, his mom. She said they were watching it and at first it was a couple girls and a guy looking normal. They thought it was an ad for something. The girl goes over to the guy and unzips his pants. At this point, his parents still thought it was an ad and that the girl was going to pull out a prop or something. Then she pulls out this massive dong. My buddy didn't get the details if she started blowing him or something as he said he didn't want his mom to go into specifics. His mom thought that his dad had unintentially hit the remote control to a different channel, but not the case.
We can't undo what happened, but we remain deeply sorry for the impact this situation has had on our customers," Comcast Tucson corporate affairs manager Kelle Maslyn said in a statement Monday. "To that end, we will be issuing a $10 credit to any Comcast video customer in Tucson who was impacted. While this credit won't change what happened, we hope that it will demonstrate to our customers, and to the Tucson community, how seriously we are taking this situation."
Maslyn said Comcast is "continuing with our investigation into what we believe may have been an isolated, malicious act, and will aggressively pursue all leads until we come to resolution."
