I'll probably get flamed since I don't start topics or post much in the roundball forum...but I do watch and participate in the pick em...
OSU is coming around...Evan Turner is turning into the go to guy/leader, while Simmons has been playing very well as the combo guard...I love when they sub in PJ Hill...plays in your face D and stays out of the way...Mullens is starting to assert himself and Buford has been heating up...
Matta has done a great job with these kids...I reallly think if they all stick around they could be NC caliber next year...I would say this year they are at least round 2 or Sweet 16 bound in the NCAA's provided the roof doesn't cave in...they need to beat the teams they should the rest of the year...
thoughts????

Since when was Matta recruiting Big Ten running backs??
OSU has been playing good ball of late. Turner is solid, and I like Mullens, but without Lighty and being relatively young, I'm not sure they're more than a second round team. I hope I'm wrong, because I will pull for them in the tournament (as long as they aren't playing MSU).

I think Mgo is correct, a big factor in how well tO$U may fare come tourney time is the health of David Lighty. Even if he's able to come back, which is still in doubt, how much he'll be able to contribute is also very much uncertain. I think the main issue with the Buckeyes right now is they are overly reliant on the outside shot. That can be a dangerous thing come tourney time, either getting hot and making a run or going cold and exiting before the weekend. If they can start getting more consistent inside production from Lauderdale and Mullens and have Lighty back to contribute 18-20 mpg then they could make some noise in the dance. I think Diebler is also very underrated. Hell, IU ran a box and 1 with him the last time they played!!!
Seeing Turner in person at the tO$U/ND game I came away very impressed. Dude has improved quite a bit since his frosh campaign. If he sticks around along with Mullens then tO$U is top 10 good next year.

Yeah, keeping guys on campus has been pretty tough for Matta as of late.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and start a pile-on when my team is pulling a conference Oh-fer.

What a tease...
They lose another before the conference tourney and the B-ball Buckeyes might find themselves defending their NIT championship.
