I also heard that Marshawn Lynch just exploded on the scene by doing something incredibly stupid. How come you didn't post that?

Ummmm, it had nothing to do with the thread topic.

The next time I post about "Whales".... I'll make sure to post about "Mountain Lions".

Nice jab at Modern College Football's "tailback U".

Enjoy

Most of the shit you post has nothing to do with anything except your fascination with the average state of Cal football.

Still bitter... that "Jet Blue" said nay to Notre Dame ?

Take solace, he did the same to $C.

I have to agree with this. I'm old enough to remember when you could possibly get the Heisman out of an average, or maybe even slightly worse, school. But the Heisman has changed pretty significantly over the last ten years or so. Now, you pretty much have to be on a team in contention for the national championship to even sniff the Heisman.

In the past ten years or so, about the only guys I can remember winning the Heisman who weren't playing for legitimate national championship contenders were Ron Dayne and Carson Palmer. Both were unique cases. Dayne's Heisman had something of a lifetime achievement award feel to it. Palmer, like his school, had a breakout year in '02 after three very mediocre seasons immediately preceding it.

And even in those cases, while neither player's team was a legitimate national championship contender, both were playing in BCS bowls. In Palmer's case, the general consensus IIRC was that USC was the hottest team in the nation at season's end, but that two losses relatively early in the season had knocked them out of the national championship picture.

Best-case scenario for Best is 1st team All-America, and even that might be a bit of a reach.

Terry.... you know nothing about the PAC 10.

It's ok, nobody in the country east of the mississsippi knew anything about "Jet Blue" before my thread about him last year.

I know enough about the Pac-10 to know that Cal won't win it next year, let alone contend seriously for a national championship.

Terry, you really don't know shit about the PAC 10.... or anything about conferences around the country.

I can't blame you since your team isn't part of a conference... and demands special privileges.

Cal is so loaded coming into 2010 bowl season... it's unreal.

Cal won't make the same mistake again.... traveling 8,000 miles in just over a week.... and playing a game a few hours later 3,000 miles away.

It was never done before in College Football HISTORY!

Only a school like Cal would try the impossible.

Uhh, yeah. But in order to get there, you need to do well in the regular season first.

Btw, last time I checked, the Rose Bowl wasn't for the national championship.

What's that? Losing 6 games a year and still claiming that you're the best team in CFB while winning the national championship every year with 32 first round picks and every position on the all American team filled by a Cal Bear?

But, as a Notre Dame guy, you're smart enough to know that.

Just kidding... you guys are really good at teaching ancient architecture and making the "kids/students" spend a year in Rome for their degree.

Actually, I was referring to your earlier quote:

Yep, it has a Rose Bowl all right. It also has a second game played in the Rose Bowl. But that game won't be called the Rose Bowl.

The only game that will be called the Rose Bowl is not for the national championship.

Sudden Sam wrote:3. RB C.J. Spiller, Clemson
Arguably the nation's greatest triple threat, Spiller has produced long-distance touchdowns via run, reception and return. Spiller already has set school records with 12 touchdowns on plays of at least 50 yards and six of at least 80 yards. This past season, he had six runs and seven receptions of at least 20 yards. He also had a 33-yard punt return and kickoff returns of 64 and 96 yards. Seven of the 11 touchdowns he scored in '08 covered at least 24 yards. He ranked 21st in the nation in all-purpose running even though he backed up James Davis. Davis is gone, so Spiller figures to be featured more in Clemson's offense this fall.

Against ALABAMA:

No Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg
-------------------------------------------------
Spiller, C 2 8 1 7 0 8 3.5

7 yards on 2 carries. EXPLOSIVE!
1. RB Jahvid Best, California
One of the fastest guys in college football, Best had 10 touchdown runs that covered at least 20 yards; on those 10 runs alone, Best rushed for 583 yards. He had six touchdowns on runs of at least 60 yards. Best also had six runs in excess of 30 yards in which he didn't score. In his first season as a starter, he rushed for 1,580 yards on 194 carries – 8.1 yards per carry. By the way, he had a 54-yard kickoff return, too.

Against USC:

13 carries for 30 yards. 2.3 YPC, with a long of 9 yards. No TDs. EXPLOSIVE! (Then again he did do better than the rest of his team. On the day Cal rushed for 27 total yards...on 26 carries.)

Who gives a shit who wrote it toolshed? The fact that you scour the internet looking for anything cal related just so you can post on here trying to make anyone think you know something about the sport is laughable. Yes we know you're a Cal fan. Yes we know every year they have the best team, yes we know the games they lose every year are expected road bumps on their way to another national championship. yes we know they travel more than any other team in the nation, yes we know every one of their seniors are first round draft picks and the best at their current position in all of CFB. Face the fact....nobody gives a rats ass who wrote the fucking article. Nobody gives a fuck about a mediocre football program that hasn't ever done anything and never will, in fact one would wish you'd blow away like a smelly fart in a breeze.

Why the fuck did you mention my name? ND tried to get the kid to come from the west coast and he stayed closer. Instead, ND got one of the top rated kids out of Florida and a top kid out of Illinois.

ND's rushing offense blows monkey nuts, and Best wouldn't do much to make it better. The offensive line has been horrible. If they can make that come together, Armando Allen will be on that list next year.
