So you tied some string and metal to a rake and found it PET worthy? I can imagine your wife and neighbors as you had the photo shoot with your contraption. Your running around snapping off pics from all angles making a prototype, redesigning the prototype, taking more pics. The worst part is that the thing didn't even work. Hell if m2 and John posted PETS of all their failings we'd be out of bandwidth.

But your head was in the right place, making the job easier...so it'll RACK.

Your just like my neighbor....you spend 8 fucking hours trying to do something, to save a buck when you could have went to the rental yard, got the goddamn thatcher, thatched the yard, raked it up, and then been on the first tee in four hours.

Then you spend 2 more hours posting it up in this shit hole. Get back to the institution you moron...

Get yerself one of these guys and a couple concrete blocks. I use it twice a year and the thatch disappears!

Also I have about 10 of these handy dandy noise makers, they do a little mowing of their own, scratch out insects, and aerate in the process; fertilizer is built in.
Neighbors are not recommended. (All the better.)

Susan's didn't, but mine did.

I'm sure you must have something better than lawn mower pics stored on one of your old memory cards.

Every so often about a half dozen of these guys come on my yard and do a great job of aerating, dethatching, and eating bugs. My neighbors have (or did have) Mexicans do theirs.

Yep - and throw a couple 70lb sand bags in and it does great at coring also.

The only problem of course is that the first time I did it I didn't take these fuckers into consideration:

And Shish Kabob'd about 5 of 'em before I'd realized what the fuck was happening.
Needless to say replacing them sucked to Dinsdalian degrees

Umm...aerators don't dethatch. I have that same unit. Great for aerating. Dethatching? Not so much.

This is a deece dethatcher, but nothing is as good as elbow grease.

Image

I'll be getting one of these for my Grasshopper. My current aerator will take forever to aerate 5 acres. THis bad boy will do it rather quickly.

It's a good thing I've never tried to dethatch with it then -

I just core twice a year, once in the spring and again when I seed in the fall and my 1.5 tract seems to do pretty well.
I'll typically bag through April then just mulch the rest of the year

5 acres?

What, you've got your own golf course, or just a really big garden?

You don't need an aerator, you need a plow.

Or you need to not be so full of shit.

Wait... maybe your aerating your neighbors property.

Wags,

You have a hard time believeing someone in a rual area has 5 acres of land? That Grasshopper Aerator will take care of the entire lawn in about 90 minutes. The mower goes 10 mph. I'll be dodging the damn plugs in the cockpit.

Full of shit? Not so much.

No, but I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to aerate those 5 acres... unless you were grooming your own private golf course.

Hell, maybe you are all that. Excuse my incredulity.

I'll just go back to picking dandelions on my small plot.

OK, i gotcha now. Well, the land I bought...the previous owners were probably like many on this board. They didn't give a shit about any grass unless it was within 20 feet of the house. Personally, I like a nice somewhat uniform lawn. My lawn is full of thistles, crabgrass, and many other shitty weeds. Not to mention, the grub population is astronomical which, as you can imagine, means I have moles as well. Fuckers are tearing up my lawn. And if I don't take care of these grubs, I'm going to lose all kinds of vegetation to these damn japanese beetles.

So I am putting down grub-kill this weekend. The moles had hibernated but I am seeing freshly dug tunnels in places where they had not dug before so the moles are coming up. Gonna set my traps and hopefully get them the hell off my land. Then aeration. Then seeding. Sounds like a lot of work, but most of it is sitting in the driver seat of my 727k2 with beer on board.

Yeah, shutyomouth brown isn't too attractive. Works like a champ though. When I was testing them out, the demo I had was a side discharge. I fucking hated it. Even when my lawn wasn't very high, it was leaving rows of clippings. I had them put a mulcher on the one I bought. $300? Childs play for the performance.

I went with the front mount because I want to get a blade, the aerator and the snow blower. I have a feeling if I want the snow blower to work worth a shit I'll need to get "winter tires" or chains. I don't have the turf tires like in the pic above. I do have the large treads that keep from slipping. I'll still use my 42" craftsman rider for hauling shit around the yard in the trailer or spreading seed/fertilizer/insecticide, but the Grasshopper is a fuggin machine and will do the tough work.
