I know the place is a shithole but still.

No jobs (other than drug trade), second worst schools in the nation, terrible municipal services, etc. Jesus, if it wasn't for Indian Village, you could cut that median home price by $1,000.

I just can't believe that you can buy a home for $5K anywhere in the USA in 2009... let alone a major city. What's the unemployment rate there? Isn't it inching towards 30%?

Detroit is so cheap m2 could actually buy a place and move out of that crackhouse he lives in.

Can't we just give that shithole to Cananda? Or sell it to Cananda at Louisiana Purchase prices/13 cents an acre? Fuck...even accept Canandian dollars for the sale.

The movie industry is moving in. There's a huge operation going in the old temporary MGM Grand building. There's talk of a huge movie studio/lot going up in nearby Allen Park, close to a done deal. There will be jobs to be had and because of it tenants in need of housing. For the cost of one home elsewhere one could pick up a block in the city and bring it up to respectability.
