Muntadar al-Zeidi, the Iraqi journalist who went from obscurity to folk hero status in December when he threw his shoes at then-President George W. Bush, was sentenced to three years in jail today for “attempting to assault a foreign leader.” Zeidi said his behavior was “a natural reaction for the crimes committed against the Iraqi people.”

I thought Bush already indicated he didn't hold a grudge, unless he was just doing a soft-shoe in public while behind the scenes lobbying for this guy to get the boot.

I heard Iraq put their best gumshoe investigators on the job. Only took em a few weeks of reviewing the video to compile enough evidence to make it a shoe-in.

Even though the Chimp deserved a LOT more from the Iraqi people--let's say being dragged behind a car for about fifty miles naked--I honestly believe that the office of U.S. president should somehow be respected. That is, yes, he should serve a mild token sentence. Three years is obviously excessive. Suffice to say he'll be treated like a hero in the joint. Rack him and his spirit.
