Bristol PET

We left late thursday night from Madison, WI to make the journey to the world's fastest half mile. this was my 6th race at my 4th different track (michigan 2, phoenix, cali 2)
13 hour drive wasn't too bad... no construction, no real traffic, and freeway speeds plus 10 (at least) helped.

we camped out a little more than a mile from the track. $100 per site, free firewood and rings, showers, breakfast, and shuttles to and from the track. split 4 ways for 3 days... not bad. the only downside was no alcohol in the campgrounds, but we drank more than enough at the track to make up for it.
i couldn't actually fit our entire site in the frame.

they did a legends race after the nationwide. 15 laps with celebs then 35 of the legends. the race itself wasn't that great... but watching cale yarborough and ray evernham wreck in seperate incedents right in front of us was pretty entertaining.

Along for the ride was my fiancée and my brother. neither had been to a nascar race before... just local dirt track stuff. both want to plan another race trip for next year.
one of my college friends also came along, she's been to two other tracks before this.

Very cool, Mac.

I've only been to Kansas Speedway, but if there were just one track I could go to the rest of my life, it would have to be Bristol.

You're a lucky man. I trust you already know this.

Btw, I posted a thread in the main forum linking this thread. It certainly deserves more run than it's gotten until now. Hope you don't mind.

She has all her teeth. In Madison, that's the standard for a hottie.

The pic of the flag parachuting into the track is nailz.

The only bad thing about this PET is that Kylie Busch won.

Bitch lost the Nationwide race because of a pit crew mistake letting a tire get away, so afterwards he parks his ride in a hissy fit and makes his crew push the car back to the hauler.

What a cunt.

Are the tickets easy to get? Bristol is my dream track. I plan on making it there for my first live race.

If true, he was just taking the loss to heart. Probably doesn't matter much now, since he won the big one.

I have a similiar PET from Elkhart Lake Superbike Race in 1981. Me and all my buddies rode our motorcycles up the day before the race, but decided to put up tent in some random woods near the track. Around 3am all of a sudden we see a flashlight outside the tent and somebody walking up to us.

State Fukkken Trooper!

Told us we were trespassing and had to leave. We packed up the tents, found a campground and drank beers around somebodies fireplace until the sun came up.

That day we went to the races and watched these superbikes doing 180 in the straightways, riding wheelings, and scaping their knees in the corners. And then we saw Freddie Spencer, greatest superbike rider at the time, crash on one of the turns.

If you guys are interested I can scan all the pictures for a PET.

Bristol has been sold out forever. Until this year, that is. There were still tickets available a few weeks before the race.
