Besides USC playing in a BCS game, if I could pick just one game next year to watch in person it'd be the RRS. With both QBs returning and with Texas being so pissed about last season that ought to be the most emotionally charged game of the year, anywhere.
That's going to be one helluva game time atmosphere, especially if they both come in undefeated, which they obviously should.

i don't think there is going to be anywhere on the official Big XII site that lists UT and Tech as winning a share of the conference championship....South division maybe. If it's been awarded by the conference, why the need for the asterisk? Regardless, if OU had done this in reverse circumstances it would prove OU cheats for titles and Bob Stoops is everything that's wrong with football....unlike the Minister of "Class", Mack Brown, who wins his gentlemenly championships on the field with an uncorruptable commitment to fair play and cute puppies . Vito and Harv would be vomiting all over themselves in righteous indignation.

BTH, it's like you said, though. Vito is literally lying, in saying the Big XII awarded Texas and Taco Tech shares of the Big XII title.
That's not just myopia, or wishful thinking. That's stating something as a fact; something which is patently untrue.
Okay, it might not by lying, per se, it might just be misinformation, but...wow.
Vito has to know that no team who doesn't play in their CCG could ever be awarded a share of the overall Big XII title. He has to know how impossible his claim really is.

He and other Tejass fans know. They just choose to ignore reality because it doesn't suit their little fantasy world where they are Texas and by G-d because they are texass they are

The worst part about it is that you can fully expect that Vito or one of the other texass fans, such as Harv, will come back into this thread either claiming that it is a fact that they share the conference crown with the winners of the conference title game or continue to whine/make excuses ad nauseum about the
great injustice done to tejass for not being awarded said title.

They can bitch and moan about the Big XII South debacle, sure, but there's no way they can claim the Big XII awarded them and Taco Tech a share of the conference title, not even with an attached asterisk.
That's not a subjective statement, that's an objective falsehood. There is nothing hanging in the Texas locker room from the Big XII, saying Texas is co-champions of the Big XII in 2008.

Evidently our athletic dept can't seem to get their act together.
When it first went up, the claim from the athletic dept was that the Big 12 awarded a share of the title to each of the teams that tied for the best record at the end of the regular season. At lease that's how it was explained when it was noted about 3 months ago that it was up. Now the athletic department has backed off that statement and is telling everyone that it was a mistake and Mack is denying any knowledge of it. So at this point who the hell knows.
I know for a fact that Mack knew about it, and my opinion is that this was probably put up as a big fuck you to the BCS, Big 12 and Oklahoma.

If I am not mistaken, it was a 3 way tie for the Big XII South. The winner by tie-breaker was OU. Yet, there was a 3 way tie. I am in Lubbock and they all claim a piece of the South for 2008. What a bunch of fuckers. We should alert the media and have the whipped and flogged like OU gets beat in Bowl games.

The facts about the Big 12 championship are that two teams played in that game and both had one thing in common, they got their asses kicked by Texas by a combined 35 points.
As far as Texas is concerned Oklahoma was paper champs, the real champs of the Big 12 were not given the chance to claim their title.

maybe your pee brain doesn't comprehend the difference between college basketball and college football, so I'll explain it.
basketball has a little tournament known as March Madness where 64 teams get together to see who is #1.
college football doesn't have that, they like to point out that the season is like a playoff.
Well if the season is like a playoff then why is it that Team A can beat the shit out of Team B but Team B is the one that gets to play in the conference championship over Team A.
I know what you are going to come back with Team C beat Team A and lost to Team B so that the tie breaker was who the voters thought was better. The facts are that team C was not in the picture as far as the voters were concerned due to their national ranking at the time the choice was made. It was only team A and B, but the joke of a system still chose the lesser of the two teams and that was proven in their bowl game.
Facts are that Texas not joklahoma ended up the higher ranked team with the best record in the Big 12. The only black spot on our record was a last second loss on the road.
Total number of points in Texas losses 6pts
Total number of points in joklahoma losses 20pts
Best teams Texas beat Oklahoma and Ohio State
Best teams Joklahoma beat: TCU and Taco Tech
I could go on and give statistics against opponents ranked in the top 10 but I will save you the drama, Texas looks damn good and Oklahoma looks like shit. Everyone knows blOwU in the official conference champs but the truth of the matter is they were paper champs, the world knows it, and they know it.

just as an aside, for a team that's had 60 hung on them twice in the last decade in Dallas, you have an interesting definition of "beat the shit out of"--the phrase you've now used more than once.

When you make a team quit in the 4th quarter like the sooners typically do the term "Beat the Shit" seems to fit nicely. Remind me again when was the last time the sooners actually won a BCS bowl game? What is your record over the last 5 years in bowl games? Who were some of those losses to? Please also explain for us why you lost those games?

You're right, Harv. Your link to an opinion column about basketball in a Tulsa paper does prove that Texas was right to claim a share of the Big 12 football title. Thanks for clearing that up for us and sorry that we dared suggest it was a bush league move.
Jesus Christ...most of us had the stones to admit that Texas got screwed in the BCS. Why can't the resident Longhorns just admit that, while the system may suck, OU won the Big 12 title fair and square according to the rules set forth many years ago and that any attempt by another school to claim said title is uber-douchebaggery.

I know we got screwed. OU had the higher BCS ranking and got to play Florida. Did I agree with it? No. But it is what it is and those werer the rules at the start of the season. If you would have told Texas fan last year that we would end the season 12-1 with a win over OU and a BCS victory, we would have taken it. It was a major tease. It's like getting the tip in and the nshe says stop.
The link was simple.....it was a ridiculous article claiming OU would have played for the MNC in Basketball if Texas had not "thugged" Blake Griffin. That is as ridiculous as some moron at Texas claiming we won the Big XII in football. Yes, we did beat both teams that played in the game, but we didn't get the opportunity because of the rules. That's how it goes. Do I think we should have put up a mention with an *? No. It was dumb. Once Mack found out he told them to take it down. It is now gone.

the only thing Harv, is that one act was undertaken by the University itself (the asterisk) and the article you cite is from an opinion piece from one of the dumbest morons in the Oklahoma sports press (which is saying a lot)--and hardly represents OU in an official capacity. Sittler thinks he's "controversial" or something. He's trolling for Sooner Cletus most of the time. He usually lauds OU hoops backhandedly since his hoops market in Tulsa/Northeast OK is mostly OSU (and Arkansas). and that's how the Oklahoma papers play the population....pimp OU in football, OSU in basketball...since (accurately or not in the case of the latter) those are the two biggest $$$ sports demographics in the state.

The only thing I'm going to admit is that we kicked your ass and got screwed by a shitty system. Oklahoma was the inferior team and again proved it on a grand scale.
I hope that starting this fucking week that every player Oklahoma and Texas are in a recruiting battle for the next couple of years that whatever OU coach pays a visit to said player and their family they set down two photos in front of the child and their family, one of the burnt orange asterisk and another of the Barry Switzer Center's trophy case and tell them that you can go to Austin and win asterisks or come to Norman and win the crystal bowl.
If you want asterisk ring wearing sympathy take it to a place like Orangebloods.com where you can all cry a river while singing Kumbaya to the beat of a naked Matthew McConaughey playing the bongo drums and then give each other reach arounds. I get the strong impression that after this latest
"We're fucking Texass" cry festival the public sympathy for Tejass has been spent.
Blahhh....Blahhhhh...Tejass....Blah.......Fuck.......BLAHHHHH....
Here is one for you:
SCOREBOARD. Spin that.

That picture = Scoreboard on TCU and Taco Tech
The only Spin I need is to point out that the only good teams you played this year beat your land thieving asses.

You keep telling yourselves that if makes you feel better. Where I come from, and that would be Austin after all, we were taught that what matters is having the trophy in the case. 9-1 sucks if there is no trophy to show for it. When commentators discuss the first three time football champs in conference history it will be Oklahoma 2007-2009 (very possibly even four time with the way Muschump is talking about your defensive line). When the Big 12 Conference puts out its media guides for the press and record books they will acknowledge The University of Oklahoma as the 2008 Big 12 conference football champs. When I take my children and grandchildren through the Switzer Center they'll see a Giant crystal bowl with the logos of every school in the conference that competed in football saying
2008. You carry around that cute little picture of cotton bowl scoreboard in your wallet and in your heart just like taco tech will for you; we'll have a trophy to show for the season while you have your dick in your hand.
