Hand me down from my mom. 1987 Chevy Suburban. Nothing really special about it, except it was great for moving large numbers of people around. Nothing but factory stuff, not even an upgraded radio, but that thing ran for ever.
Wasn't into cars then and still am not into cars. As long as it runs I am not complaining. I do seem to like the ones that are paid in full vs those that still have payments due.

1965 Nissan PL411 Bluebird
Mine was forest green with two large white stripes going over the hood, roof and trunk, and cool aluminum rims with wider than standard tires.
I think it was about a 1200 or 1300 cc engine, four on the floor. No radio or AC. Got me where I was going, though.

The 351's had more to them but when you're 16 and buying your first car used... the 302 was good enough at the time.
One day I will own another 73 Fastback fully restored.. I kick myself for letting it go.

73 Mustang..most detuned vehicle to come out of Detroit.
Of course that was the detuned HP, that was published and factory dynaoed.
Few quick tweaks and it was right at 175, little bit more got it to 215 HP in a couple of hours.
I have a 72 coupe that had the original drag pack on it from the factory...it was about 235 stock I believe...put a 306 in it, with the drag pack bolts on's, and it produces a decent 295 HP or so.

'55 Chevy--bought it in 1961 with 22 K on it---drove it all over the northeast for a couple of years then in 1963 I bought my first new car--Dodge Dart GT--

totaled it in 1968. If I had the money I'd look for both models to tool around down here in.

1978 Pontiac Trans Am
Looked very similar to this one, except my had 6.6 on the "shaker" and the ralleye wheels had black inserts, not gray.
400, 4 speed with a posi rear end and no ugly fire chicken on the hood. Everyone thought it was repainted because that stupid bird wasn't on the hood, but I had the build sheet that stated otherwise.

Mikey, all smack and penis envy aside, that is one fugly POS car. You weren't ashamed to be seen in it?
And did the Nissan nameplate even exist in 1965? I thought they used to be Datsun, who changed their name, at least for American consumption, sometime in the 80's. I could be wrong about that. I don't know much about foreign cars.

What can I say. It was my first car and I bought it with my own $$.
Actually it wasn't that ugly. The one I had had wider tires with racing rims. It sat lower and looked wider than that one. The color was what you might call "British Racing Green" and it had two wide white stripes, front to back. It was basically a stripped down little 4 banger that was actually very light and pretty quick.
In 1965 they were still Nissan, hadn't changed their name to Datsun yet before changing it BACK to Nissan. From the side and back it sort of resembled the old BMW 2002, but in about 3/4 scale. None of the interior refinement either.
Blew a head gasket on it once. I had never worked on a car before except for brakes and tune up shit in auto shop. I got the Chilton's manual and rented a torque wrench. Took it apart in the back yard and laid everything out on a tarp. Replaced the gasket, put everything back together and it worked fine.
Until it threw a connecting rod in San Juan Batista, but that's another story.
A better angle than the one above. Same wheels as mine, but different color.

Love those hubcaps, 88.
In-line 6? What an easy, non-knuckle busting engine to work on.
Rack all the shweet pics of Detroit steel back in the day. Too bad those days are gone.

I owned 2 Monte Carlos. A 1974 model and then a 1995 when I just
had to have Dale Earnhardts ride. They were both total pieces of shit that monied me to death.... and I loved them both.
I don't expect your experience with a 1984 model was any different.
On the bright side, I traded off the '95 for a 2000 Lumina, which was without a doubt the best car I've ever owned. Drove that bitch for 7 years and 177,000 miles before she wore out.

I don't even think I had it for a year before some genius decided to make a left turn in front of me while I was doing 40 mph. The car was totaled. Bought a 1986 Dodge Daytona for my second car. Now that car was a piece of shit. Should've bought a Honda.

Hell, in that pic it kind of looks like a BMW 2002, which wasn't an ugly car at all.
Its nameplate was Datsun, though, not Nissan, at least in America.

I googled but could not find anything that looked like mine. Had a new 1991 Ford Ranger XLT Extended Cab for my first car. 4 months in and I got in a helluva wreck. $6000 damage to the car. One month later, I come home shit-faced drunk. A buddy of mine drove me home in my truck and walked himself home. Next morning, my parents gave me hell because when I stumbled in drunk and covered in mud, it was only 8 PM.
I told my parents the next morning I was going to drive home but my friend took my keys. They asked me if I really thought if I was ok to drive. I said yes. They sold my truck the next day.
Mini-human was giving Lefty shit for his thoughts in the DWI thread. While I may be a little more lenient on a first offense, I still agree with the harsher penalties on 2nd/3rd offenses.

I've owned (been in debt for) way too many cars over the years.
The first car NEW car I ever got in hock for was a Dodge Daytona, and it was pretty. Being young and extremely dumb, I got royally fucked by the dealer on the finance terms.
I'll count myself lucky then in that wifey and I took that fucker back to the finance company, left them the keys, drove off, and never looked back.

My first car was a 1976 Cutlass with bucket seats and an automatic on the floor. 350 Olds engine with a quadrajet carb. Decent power for a young kid. Mine was the last year before the airtubes/smog pump thingys. I believe the 1977 was first year for those types of emission controls.
Loved that car! I remember "upgrading" the stereo. Put in a supertuner Pioneer CASSETTE player/kenwood amp/and a couple of Alpine speakers! Anyone have a pic?

Beautiful still, if you ask me. The grill was gorgeous with the headlight doors closed and the sequential turn signals in the rear were cool.
Damn drivers side mirror fell off the first time I pulled up at this little rich girl's house for a date. Guess that shoulda embarrassed me, but we stayed so high, we didn't care.

Wait a minute....covered wagons must be making a comeback. Ever notice how big the SPOKED rims on all the young kids cars are? And how short the sidewalls are?
I bet if you dropped the top and put some flames on that conestoga wagon, chromed the spokes and ran a strip of rubber in place of the metal around the wheels you would be a fuggin legend the first time down the strip.

I ended up with 2 - this one got totaled, and then got a red one with the white vinyl roof
Come to think of it, It got totaled too
The 350 was a great engine - easy to work on and the back seat was....... cramped
