Self serving Petey loses again...

Petey said Sanchez would go in the 3rd round and was wasting his time.
Sanchez went 5th and is a millionaire 10 X over.
This is the 7th straight time "Petey" has tried to keep his players from making money for his own benefit... and its the 7th straight time they've turned into millionaires.
I smell fear in southern California.
Cal just took two of $outhern California's most sought after recruits.
Cal by 2 TD's over $C in the fall. (ta the bank)
the truth

Love to see a link verifying Petey saying Sanchez wouldn't go until the 3rd round...
It's pure bullshit. m2 is making shit up again. Petey said nothing of the sort. He merely alluded to the shaky success/failure rate of QBs who come out early. He never publicly slotted Sanchez into any particular pick, and there's not a chance in hell he would've said the 3rd round, even if he had.
There was no chance Sanchez would be anything but a 1st round pick. Petey knew that. Everyone knew that. The question was merely how high in the 1st round? Had he fallen to the lower part of the 1st round, or even just out of the top ten, yeah, his coming out early would've been a huge mistake.
As it turns out, Sanchez came up golden. The #5 pick, to a New York team in desparate need of a QB and someone to become the face of the franchise, it doesn't get much better than that, in terms of potential upside.
That being said, had he stayed for his senior season he probably goes #1, which certainly means he lost many millions of $$ by coming out early. In that sense, Petey was still correct, and it remains to be seen just how correct he was about the "football success" impact of Sanchez coming out early.
It's probably fair to say that purely in terms of his growth as a QB he would've benefitted from playing another full season in college. Petey was almost certainly correct, on that score.

There's also a huge potential downside. Remember it's the Jets and it's New York. If you succeed there you're next to God but if you fail, they'll be on your ass 24/7 like stink on shit and it may ruin a kid.

Agreed, which I already mentioned, in the other thread. Being a bust in New York, especially as a highy touted "franchise QB," the falls don't come much deeper than that.
