Who doesn't love Jon Gruden? This will be a popular decision.

Aren't you supposed to be a washed up and washed out coach before you move to the broadcast booth?
Good riddance to Kornholer, though.

I guess the thinking is that Gruden will hop back into coaching very soon, but ... I dunno.
If he "clicks" on MNF, perhaps he'll think it's fairly comfortable to be out of the frying pan.
Oh -- and cashing pretty good checks, too.
What would you do in that case?
Guess it might depend on how much fire you've got in yer belly, and how much you think you still want to "prove" as a head NFL coach.
Maybe he'll pull a Dickie V. and come back to coaching MANY years later.

Gruden is getting off the coaching carousel for awhile...just long enough for Weis to finish hanging himself, at which point Gruden slides right into his supposed "dream job," the Notre Dame gig.

You think Urban would still take that gig, even now? For real?

He already had one shot there. Not sure they would go after him again, especially since he gets whatever he wants at UF.

I'm guessing that the next ND coach will be someone other than Meyer (too many fences to mend) or Gruden (out of college coaching for too long). And that assumes Weis gets fired after next season in the first place. Imho, that's not a given, particularly since a 10-2 season (certainly feasible, given our schedule and the talent level now on campus, if recruiting rankings are to be believed) probably buys him another year.

Terry, for your sake, you'd better hope that doesn't happen. Hell, I'm even hoping that doesn't happen. I want you guys to get good again. Okay, I need you guys to get good again.

I can't root against ND no matter the circumstances. Did you root against USC during the Tollner era? Or Larry Smith, or John Robinson II, or Paul Hackett, for that matter?
In any event, unless Chucky is a disaster in the booth, or he really, really, REALLY wants to coach at ND, I think this rules out any possibility of him being ND's coach next season. This gig will pay just as well, in all likelihood, and be significantly less stressful.

Most people just didn't "get" Kornheiser.
Dude was really good at what he did and I loved the way set games up at the top with his sense of humor and serious takes.
I got it and I wish more people did.
Be careful what you wish for- Gruden will probably be boring as shit.
