Roh was a "change" candidate who came out of nowhere to be elected, mainly on the strength of the youth vote.

He had a very limited political background before being thrust into national prominece as a presidential candidate.

In his younger days he made a name for himself as a defense and civil rights lawyer.

Hmmmm ....



He based much of his campaign on "anti-America" and an "I'm an outsider who will go in and clean things up" rhetoric that appealed to the youth.

Hmmmm .....



Despite being this "change" and "fresh air" candidate, his administration proved to be highly corrupt, and Roh was actually impeached in 2004, before finally being reinstated.

After leaving office in 2008 he has been in constant legal battles, and it had been proved that he did receive a 6 million dollar bribe while in office.
Members of his "change" cabinet have also been shown to have received similar bribes.

Hmmmm ....

I've been living in SK for the past three years, and the guy was a joke of a president.

As far as I know, Marty, they don't have the death penalty is Korea.
So yeah, from that perspective, launching one's self off a cliff can be seen as a more harsh punishment than anything the "State" would have dished out to him.

But of course a stand up man, a man with a pair of 'nads, would face up to what it is that he is being accused of.

This was, after all, the "fresh air" -- "change" -- "clean it up" fella we're talking about.
