First, it was "Caesar/Ceasar."

Next, it was "Cincinnati/Cincinatti."

Twice, in the span of maybe five posts, you managed to make me burp up "mental block" words; i.e., words I've managed to fuck up, my entire life.

So, screw it. Before you do any more damage, before you prompt me to stumble over any more of my pet peeve fuck up words, let's just get 'em all out, right now...

chute/shoot: Yep, though I have no problem remembering which is which, I still brain-fart all the time on those two. Too often, when it's time to actually use "chute" I write "shoot."

past/passed: Same deal. When I look at each word, I know which one to use. When I quickly write them in a story, I often screw up and use "passed" when I needed "past."

discreet/discrete: I think I'm finally past that one.

stiletto/stilleto: I still have to double check on that one, nearly every time.

graffiti/grafitti: Ditto

renaissance/rennaisance: Fuck you, m2, for dragging that one back into my present.

poison/poisin

noisy/noisey

believable/believeable

conceivable/conceiveable

coquettish/coquetteish

laid/lay/lie, as they pertain to putting something down.

cannon/canon: This one just cracks me up, it's so obvious.

barrel/barrell

debatably/debateably

apocryphal/apacraphyl

nosy/nosey

omelette/omellete

petard/pitard

proffered/proferred

tinnitus/tinitus

asinine/assinine

inane/innane

I'm sure we all have some, but, well...fuck.

Whitey, I write...a lot. This place is hardly where I devote the majority of my writing.

As such, yeah, I've become keenly aware of my pet peeve fuck up words. Problem is, like most people, I suck at editing my own work. My brain knows what it expects to see, so my eyes miss obvious errors. When I read it a week later, with fresh eyes, that's when I easily notice my errors.

Same deal here, only to a lesser extent.

You always like to give me shit about my number of edits. Well, I use the re-fresh/edit function here as my method of proofreading and then editing. I don't use a spell checker, and I always suck at catching my errors when I first write them. Once I see the actual post, however, I tend to catch those errors.

That's when I begin my editing. Sometimes, no edits are required. Sometimes, if it's a long enough post, or if the post includes a lot of coding script, it requires a few edits.

The novellas you post here are just spill-off from the "majority" of your on-line writing??

Unfortunate for us.

Yep. These novellas here are little Hallmark missives. I don't do any real writing here.

I'll get right on that, making sure of course to first consult with the guy on the internet whose entire persona is wrapped up in posting pics of women he'll never have, engaging in political debates he'll never be a meaningful part of and, most of all, the avoidance of normal fonts...because his belabored use of the bold font pegs hims as a real cyber-rebel.

So where do you normally inflict your torture, and why do you hate them more than T1B?

Van -- don't confuse these two:

Dyslexic / **Dicklexic

** TVO attempting to extract manjuice from the wrong end of his john's penis because even on his tippie-toes, his cocksucker only reaches ball height.

Moby, no, I don't add the letter "U" where it doesn't belong, but I do sometimes lapse into other British variants, such as grey/gray.

I also still go back and forth between American and British punctuation. I find that I tend to favor the British way, which, to me, is more expressive.

socal, I also used to have a problem with separation/seperation, along with desperate/desparate. I'd always mix up the two. In both cases the method I used to finally get 'em sorted out was to recall the Eagles' "Desperado" and The Offspring's "Keep 'Em Separated."

Henley clearly sings, "Dessss-PER-adoooh" and The Offspring clearly burp out, "You gotta keep 'em sep-uh-rated."

Stupid, absolutely, but it worked.

Smackie and smackie, for the most part I'm pretty much an open book, here on these smack boards. There aren't too many aspects of my life that I insist on keeping private.

Pictures, by and large, would be one. Besides a pic where I was wearing a full face motorcycle helmet I've only ever posted one picture of myself, and that was payment for a lost bet. My own pic isn't such a big deal to me, but I'll never post family pictures.

My writings would be another. Things I've done on other boards, I keep those separate. I've mentioned that I've done a lot of motorcycle and guitar gear product reviewing/roadtesting. That's about as much as I want to say on that score. Even there, the length of many of those articles would be far too much, for many of the ADD afflicted types here.

Otherwise, my originals, my "novels," as opposed to what are derisively referred to here as my "novellas," those will remain private.

Different audiences. Different motivations. I prefer to keep it that way.

The one that always gave me fits was committee. I finally figured out to double every letter that conceivably could be doubled. Now I have no problems with it.

The one that really drives me nuts in other people? That's a no-brainer: lose/loose. Those two words have very distinct and different meanings, yet so many people use them interchangeably. :brad:

C'mon, dig those skeletons out of the closet.
