What do Running Backs, QBs, Basketball Players and Farmers have in common at Texas A&M?

Well, to play devil's advocate...

The "A" in A&M does stand for "Agriculture," so it's not unreasonable that players at A&M would take Ag classes. It's also not a rules violation to have an inordinate amount of athletes majoring in Ag; not even inner city athletes who wouldn't know a pitchfork from a tuning fork.

It's highly specious, yes, but not illegal.

Also, there's no way in hell that A&M is ever going to consistently out-recruit (or even be on equal recruiting footing with) its neighbors to the north, east and west. A&M is at the mercy of the scraps left over by OU, LSU and Texas.

That being said, passing out exam cheat sheets, okay, that's the type of rules violation that bothers me. There aren't many violations that really bother me, since I think the NCAA is way too draconian in its practices, but committing academic fraud just to keep players eligible is completely indefensible. That strikes right at the heart of a university's reason for being.

One of the motto's of the school is: "An Aggie never lies, cheats, steals or tolerates those who do." Well?? WTF?

Here's something just as important: Every Aggie should support repealing the top 10-percent regulation for automatic admissions into Texas A&M.

The more top 10-percent students get admitted automatically, the less room there is for special admissions. And let's just be honest here: That means fewer top-tier athletes admitted.

Uhh, if this was true then it would hurt Texas just as much as ATM. What a dbag this guy is.

The video is from Bob Costas and it made me laugh. I think that every one knows what goes on at most football schools. The article is from John Lopez who is an A&M grad and used to write a column for the Houston Chronicle. It was published 2 days ago. It is a stark contrast after he wrote an article about how tough it is a A&M. I mean, it is tough work deciding what goes with your carnations and snap dragons.

SM: We have always played Rice. Rice was 9-3 last year and won their bowl game over Western Michigan. They had a solid team. It is important to have a game in Houston and when we play against Rice, it gives us the exposure needed locally. We played them for 80+ years in the SWC.

What Harv said and also because Cougar High screwed up. As long as Dodds is at Texas Cougar High will get nothing from Texas as much as they want it. Having Penders at Cougar High also doesn't help them.
