Stallworth pleads guity to DUI manslaughter, gets 30 days

Post by Screw_Michigan »

In our latest edition of "How much money you have equals how much 'justice' you receive in America," Browns shitstain Donte Stallworth pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter (usually a four-to-six year sentence) and received 30 fucking days, two years house arrest, eight years probation, drug and alcohol testing, lifetime DL suspension, and 1k hours of community service for hitting, and killing, some dude in Miami in March while shitfaced. Legal limit = 0.08. Stallworth = 0.126. At 7:16 AM.
Stallworth told police he flashed his lights in an attempt to warn Reyes, who was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.
Flashed his lights? Had time to not slow down, or swerve out of the way? This doesn't make sense, and neither does this fucking shitstain not serving more than a fucking month in jail for KILLING SOMEONE WHILE DRUNK!

What the fuck!
MIAMI (AP) -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth took full responsibility for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida and began serving a 30-day jail sentence Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter.

Stallworth also reached a confidential financial settlement to avoid a potential lawsuit from the family of 59-year-old Mario Reyes, according to Stallworth attorney Christopher Lyons. Reyes was struck and killed March 14 by Stallworth, who was driving his black 2005 Bentley after a night drinking at a swanky hotel bar.

Stallworth, 28, told Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy that he hopes to get involved in drunken driving education programs.

"I accept full responsibility for this horrible tragedy," said Stallworth, who was accompanied at the hearing by his parents, siblings and other supporters. "I will bear this burden for the rest of my life."

Stallworth faced 15 years in prison. After his release from jail, Stallworth must serve two years of house arrest and spend eight years on probation.

The NFL has said it will review the matter for possible disciplinary action. Lyons said the plea agreement will allow Stallworth to resume his football career.

Stallworth also must undergo drug and alcohol testing, will have a lifetime driver's license suspension and must perform 1,000 hours of community service. Lyons said after five years, Stallworth could win approval for limited driving such as for employment.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle cited Stallworth's lack of previous criminal record, cooperation with police and willingness to accept responsibility as factors in the plea deal. Rundle also said the Reyes family -- particularly the victim's 15-year-old daughter -- wanted the case resolved to avoid any more pain.

"For all of these reasons, a just resolution of this case has been reached," Rundle said.

None of the Reyes family attended the hearing. Their attorney, Rodolfo Suarez, read a statement saying the family wants to "bring closure to this emotional and tragic event." Suarez was not immediately available to comment after the hearing.

After a night drinking at a bar in Miami Beach's Fountainebleau hotel, police said Stallworth hit Reyes, a construction crane operator who was rushing to catch a bus after finishing his shift around 7:15 a.m. Stallworth told police he flashed his lights in an attempt to warn Reyes, who was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.

Stallworth had a blood-alcohol level of .126 after the crash, well above Florida's .08 limit. Stallworth stopped after the crash and immediately told officers he had hit Reyes. Police estimated Stallworth was driving about 50 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns before last season but was injured much of the year. The California native and University of Tennessee college star has also played in the NFL for New England, Philadelphia and New Orleans.

The night before the crash, Stallworth earned a $4.5 million roster bonus from the Browns.

David Cornwell, a Stallworth attorney handling the NFL situation, said he has kept top league officials apprised of the case.

"Whenever it is appropriate to do so, we are prepared to discuss the circumstances under which Donte' will resume his career," Cornwell said.

I think you all know who I feel about this subject.

That being said, I have to disagree that this is a money or fame based ruling. All to often DUI cases are swept under the rug. This is in line with many of the rulings regardless of status or wealth. I don't agree with it, but it is just the way it is. DUI murder cases just don't resonate with the media or the public, likely because so many of them are quilty of DUI themselves regardless of being caught.

Remember this is the criminal case, who knows if his family is waiting to rake Stallworth over the coals in a civil case.

Disgusting, wrong, and sad, but seems par for the course.

Flashed his lights? What, did his bling-mobile lack a car horn? Who tha' fuck flashes their lights to alert pedestrians?

[zysdale]Stallworth went to high scool here in Sacramento, at Grant High. Grant won the state football championship this past season, upsetting heavily favored Long Beach Poly in the final. Grant is a full on ghetto school, and Stallworth is still heavily tied to Grant High and the local Del Paso Heights community.

Stallworth was also a Grant High teammate of Onterrio Smith; he, of the "Whizzinator" fame.[/zysdale]

LS, pretty sure if I was blitzed and ran over some guy, I'd be serving at least 2-4. Jesus, we give people who get caught with pounds of weed harsher sentences than Shitstain Stallworth got.

Is is true that Stallworth pulled another hammy when he ran over the guy and got leniency from the judge?

Screw,

It depends. How high profile is the victim? Were you willing to cooperate? Would the victims family fight like crazy to see you spend time in jail?

In our case my mom made it know to the DA that she wanted my dad's murderer to spend as much time in prison as possible. Knowing that she would never make a ton of money on a civil case she was determined to see a jail sentence. Sounds like in Stallworth's case the family wanted the settlement more than the jail term. Further, my dad was quite well known for his contributions in the community, and his volunteer work. Without that I don't think the DA gets a jury to give a longer jail term.

At least that wouldn't have affected his ability to play in the NFL.

I think the best way to handle situations like this is to do whatever can be done to compensate the victims. The victims are the family of the dude that got mowed down, not some interweb BB losers.

How is this done? It's done by turning the offending asshole into an indentured servant, basically. The best way he can serve that family is by playing in the NFL and turning over every fukking penny he makes there to them. I would put that fukker on an allowance that would provide a decent enough living, but, nothing like what he's become accustomed to.

So, the family would be compensated as much as possible and dipshit would be reminded every day of his life how he fukked up. Putting him in the hole doesn't do a damn thing for the family and costs us taxpayers $$$$$. Not sure about the rest of you fukks, but, I got enough deadbeat motherfukkers to support already.

This would be a life long sentence unless donte can figure out a way to unkill that poor bastard. They would receive every fukking penny of whatever NFL pension he may be entitled to.

Agree...except for the "surgically" part. I'd prefer more Muslim-Al Queda-like removal of his body parts.

Surgery does not necessarily imply the use of anesthesia or antiseptic practices.
