New Glimpses of Life’s Puzzling Origins

Some 3.9 billion years ago, a shift in the orbit of the Sun’s outer planets sent a surge of large comets and asteroids careening into the inner solar system.
Their violent impacts gouged out the large craters still visible on the Moon’s face, heated Earth’s surface into molten rock and boiled off its oceans into an
incandescent mist.

Yet rocks that formed on Earth 3.8 billion years ago, almost as soon as the bombardment had stopped, contain possible evidence of biological processes.
If life can arise from inorganic matter so quickly and easily, why is it not abundant in the solar system and beyond? If biology is an inherent property of
matter, why have chemists so far been unable to reconstruct life, or anything close to it, in the laboratory?
Why and why?

John 1:3-4
3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Couple points here:

1. Seems to be nitpicking on the elimination ruling, assuming the reason for it is breaking any thing into two words. However, trying to work that sentence out grammatically and making sense of it does make my head hurt.

2. Even though the passage is credited to John, we all know the Bible is the Word of God. Assuming that's the case, who is considered more of an authority on the English language - God or Noah (Webster)? I'm not sure Noah would circle any thing in red and hand it back to God with a grade of B+.

Now that science has come so far, even so far as to create life, three scientists went to God and said,

"We don't need you anymore....we can create life on our own."

"How so ? asked God. "Show me" !

The lead scientist said, "well, first you take some dirt..."

"Ahh," said God. "Get your own dirt" !
