Bought this series on Blu-Ray HD last weekend. I've only made it through the first 2 of 11 parts but I've already seen some of the most amazing video footage I could even imagine. The 52" Samsung sort of adds to the impression too, I guess.

The 1/40 speed sequence of a large great white doing a full gainer about 15 feet above the water while swallowing a full grown seal in one large bite sort of stands out in my memory.

Excellent purchase. In addition to the stunning footage, I much preferred the BBC's narrator to Sigourney Weaver's on the Discovery Channel's version.

That Great White seal attack was amazing. My almost 18-month old boy was watching and let out a "whoaaaaaa!" while pumping his fist. Great scene.

One other scene that stood out was in the Jungle episode where a black bird was doing it's mating dance, it turns spreads its wings and you see the bright blue markings making it look like a happy face. The blue on black was amazing in all of its 1080p HD wonder. Couple of other scenes involving birds during the episode was really cool.

I found the series was excellent for my boy to watch and avoid the other geabage on TV. It inspired a lot of questions and loud ooohs and ahhhhs. The Forest episode was a little tough for him, though...it was kinda slow.

Yeah, that was the bird of paradise in New Guinea. I've seen part of that episode too, as well as the one about Antarctica and the Arctic. Pretty amazing stuff.

When I started watching the first episode my teenage kids sat down to see what it was about. My son then basically watched the first six or so episodes straight through.

It's addicting...and a great reason for a HD DVR as I recorded the Discovery presentations and watched over and over. The BBC is so much more informative. Reminds me, I should watch some of it, again soon. I've forgotten a lot of it.

When my kids wake up at 6:30 on a Sun morning, I always keep one of the dvds from this series ready to go so I can grab another hour of sleep while they sit in a trance watching ants run through the forest floor.

I've been raving about this since it first aired. I got the DVD set for Christmas, and I still watch it - amazing show. Blue Planet rocks also...
