you can always find something. there's a decent set of classics (great escape, maltese falcon, red river, grand illusion, O. Welles the Stranger, cool hand luke etc.). lot of documentaries if you search there and i've watched a lot of british comedy stuff (Little Britain, Spaced, the IT Crowd) and quasi-political stuff: Yes, Minister, the House of Cards trilogy or the MI-5 (Spooks) series--I thought that was kind of fun). of the newish HBO and Showtime stuff they'll give you a taste after the fact. i watched Californication Season 1 a week or so ago, was pretty entertaining. Dexter is currently up, but haven't watched any of it. past seasons of Weeds have been there.

there's some interesting music stuff also. and if you want to kitsch out there's all kinds of stuff like cheerleader ninjas, porky's, billionaire boys club, stray cat rock (70's girl gang flicks), those cool Sinbad flicks from the 70's....and on and on and on.

was that streaming. doesn't look like i can stream it, it's conventional "add". i saw that flick with my dad on a divorce dad date back in the day. it was pretty good. it was kind of a bummer being with the old man (he was about my age now) at the theatre where all my buds are scamming chicks and going to see breakfast club, trying to buy beer. i'm with my dad. but, the movie was good.

Definitely dig the Netflix streaming, at least for docs and dramas that don't necessarily demand the big screen treatment. I just hope they eventually allow it on PS3. It'd be great to stream to my TV without buying a separate component. It's available on 360, so maybe they're just waiting for some exclusivity arrangement to expire.

They seem to change the lineup periodically. I had Outland in my streaming queue, but it dropped out before I got around to it. Now it isn't available on instantly.
Yeah, it seems that some movies are only available for a specific interval, while others are always available.

the Roky Erickson documentary "You're Gonna Miss Me" is on streaming. it's worth watching. sadly, though, it's my understanding that the actual DVD has some pretty excellent extras, like Roky signing the papers to get "custody" of himself again and some great comeback concert footage from Austin shows....though, there's some of that stuff on youtube if yer interested.

Got a new blu-ray player a couple of weeks ago that automatically syncs with Netflix.
There are some great classsics available, but it takes a while to search through them.
So far I've watched:
Gilda (Rita Hayworth)
The Postman Always Rings Twice (John Garfield, Lana Turner)
Flight of the Phoenix (Jimmy Stewart)
The Oxbow Incident (Henry Fonda)
Sherlock Holmes the Woman in Green
Sherlock Holmes Dressed to Kill
Pride and Prejudice (Laurence Olivier, Greer Garson)
Kiss of Death (Richard Widmark, Victor Mature)
The Third Man (Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten)
The Lady from Shanghai (Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth)
There are a bunch of good Hitchcock films available that I'll be doing pretty soon.

saw that a couple years ago at the CU film series, I think. worth seeing. got the big guy from Sexy Beast and John Hurt if i recall. I read Cave's novel "Ass Saw the Angel" a couple times in the 90's. pretty interesting.
i've watched Ronin, Bullitt, Welles' the Stranger, Strangers on a Train and the Foreign Correspondent in the last couple weeks. i noticed the Bounty is back.

Aren't you a professional writer?
Pony up for a new laptop (writeoff) with an HDMI Out.
It's all the rage these days, you know.

I watched this last night. Pretty solid. Surprised it only had a PG tag.

Do these "earlier versions" go by another title? Netflix or IMDB don't show anything.
