Lately? No.

In '93, though, yeah. While riding my buddy's Yamaha I t-boned a deer, on Mulholland Hwy, in Malibu.

That...sucked.

I've nearly t-boned many other deer, to the point that not only did I begin putting deer whistles on my bikes, but I also basically quit riding through mountains at dawn and dusk.

No clue if the deer whistles ever worked, either. If anything, I think all they did was freeze the deer in place, which sometimes ain't exactly a good thing.

If I have to ride near sunbreak or dusk in areas with large animals (Olympic Penninsula, over Snoqualmie Pass) I'll try to get behind an 18 wheeler. I've only seen one large animal while riding, and that was a deer carcass at night on I-5 just north of Vancouver. I was very thankful that it became roadkill in the next lane instead of mine.

I don't ride a bike, but if I ever see my next door neighbor's Scottish terrier in the street I will be aiming for it.
