Alcohol is LEGAL. Therefore, when i drink, I'm not breaking the law. I don't smoke ANYTHING. Not cigs, not weed.......NOTHING. Never have, never will. So how can I be a hypocrite???

I'm tired of this bullshit about marijuana being the same thing as alcohol except it not being legal. Bullshit. The majority of drinkers aren't alcoholics. They don't drink on an everyday basis. Pot smokers........come on now. The occasional pot smoker is few and far between. Most smoke once and if they like it.......smoke daily. Sometimes multiple times a day. You make marijuana legal, you make society even lazier than it is right now.

Yes, I know that there's plenty of drunks out there that get in a car and kill people or go home and beat their wives. But it seems that alcohol is something much easier to control. Meaning less get hooked on it to a point where they can't stop drinking on a daily basis. I drink, not gonna lie. Matter of fact I drink a lot at times. BUT.....I never drink during the week unless it's for a special occasion (ie birthday, on vacation). I drink on the weekends. I go out to the bars almost every Friday and Saturday night and quite often I get intoxicated. But I never drive. And I'm not hooked on it. I just do it because I have a good time. I've known hundreds of potheads. They're hooked. They might claim they're not, but they're kidding themselves. I got friends that tell me they're not addicted to marijuana so when I ask them why they smoke it 3 times a day......"it just makes me feel good". Shut the fuck up. You're a god damn addict, just like most other people that smoke weed.

Oh, and I can tell you for a fact that not one single friend of mine that is successful is a pothead. Yes, some were in college/HS but none are now. My least successful friends are potheads.

If I listed my top 10 most successful friends, none are potheads. If I listed my 10 least successful friends, probably 7-8 are potheads.

Well I was waiting tables in college on 9/11/01 and I recall a group of obvious potheads sat down at a table in my section. It was morning of that day and I hadn't been brought up to speed completely with what was going on so I hadn't realized just how devastating it was. I remember one of these potheads saying "this is the worst day in the history of our country". They all seemed very sad. Like I said, I didn't realize all that had gone on since I had been at work and this was still morning so I went back to the back after getting their drink orders and recall mumbling "fucking potheads!".

That said, at night that day I walked around the downtown area and it was pretty empty. Only a few drunks boozing at the bars. I know it was middle of the week but downtown Iowa City is busy any night of the week. I remember walking around with a friend and as we would peak into the bars we'd make a comment about what a piece of shit the few people that were in there are. So while you did still have some idiot drunks, it was by far the slowest night at the bars I have ever seen in Iowa City. That tells me that even the drunks cared enough to show some class and not go out boozing on 9/11. I can't prove anything but my guess is most potheads still broke the god damn law and smoked weed on 9/11.

It seems that it's easier to become addicted to weed than it is alcohol. Honest question for you here........what percentage of people that you know that started drinking once, then twice, then 3 times, then 10 times, became alcoholics? Now the same question except smoking pot? I know very few that smoked weed a dozen times or so and didn't end up doing it basically daily- or more. Now alcohol, not the same. Sure, I know drunks.
