If Stoops was recruiting Burns to be a QB he is a stupid fool. Just watch the Auburn-Alabama game last year.
Tuberville recruited one decent QB at Auburn, Jason Campbell. The rest were basket cases or injury-prone.

Campbell really wasn't very good until his senior season either.

Part of me wants Cheezedick to win down at Auburn to piss off the Iowa State fans that whacked off to him in 2007 and are now claiming he's the worst coach ever. But part of me thinks he's a classless bum and wants to see him lose big. I really thought Tuberville got a raw deal. I just don't know what they expected out of him. He was a very good coach and had a great career. That's not an easy place to win more than 8-9 games. Wasn't very long ago he ran the table. No shame in winning 9 games when you're playing in a league like the SEC and have a program like Alabama in your own state. Sometimes trying to get to the next level ends up being a level below.
I do, however, think that if they can get some just average QB play they can go 7-0 or 6-1 to start the year. Don't have the schedule in front of me but I recall seeing the first half of the year being quite easy and then most of the tough games towards the end. I would not be surprised to see them start off great and then come back to reality in the 2nd half of the season.

The offense was too brutal to watch much of their games. I couldn't stand to sit through more than a few minutes of their games. What's your point? One season makes a career? You really think Chizik is a step up?
Tuberville vs Chizik..........I'll take Tommy.

The kids have the internet now and know what a shithole "Auburn" is.
Please... post some pics of that scenic shithole known as "Auburn".

It must be nice having the Pac 1 face off against teams who p[lace tw positions below them, from every other conference come bowl season outside of the BCS where it is often the 2nd place outside of the National championship... Da Troof.

That's nice. I'm just glad I don't have Kirk Ferentz as a coach and I don't live in a cornfield,
Ferentz vs. Tedford... as head coaches.
Kirk Ferentz.... barely over .500 %
Overall 82–74
Bowls 4–3
Jeff Tedford.... speaks for itself
Overall 59–30
Bowls 5–1
This with Tedford coaching in a MUCH tougher conference and playing a MUCH tougher OOC schedule.
This is why I laugh at you and Iowa.

Iowa was actually pretty good in the past with Hayden Fry, and Cal has always sucked. got to give Ted some love there. that is why i laugh at Cal.
when Jet Blue wins the Heisman, Cal will be the Oklahoma State of the Pac-10.
until then, Cal is just Cal.

Kirk Ferentz is so far ahead of Tedford in terms of coaching success it's not even funny.......
If you look at Kirk's overall record, you're wasting your time because it means nothing considering the trainwreck he had to clean up when Hayden left. So you can't even count the 4-19 start he had. I don't even include that in Kirk's overall record. Here's what he's done since 2001
7-5
11-2
10-3
10-2
7-5
6-7
6-6
9-4
66-34.......
3 Top 10 finishes, 4 Top 20 finishes and 2 conference titles. 4-3 bowl record against TOUGHER BOWL COMPETITION THAN CAL.
Here's who Iowa has faced in Ferentz' bowl games....
Texas, USC, Florida (twice), LSU, Texas Tech, and South Carolina.
Here is who Cal has faced in their bowl games......
Miami, BYU, A&M, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, Air Force.
Wanna know the best record of any of your bowl opponents under Tedford?? A 9-4 Air Force team.
Wow, impressive.
Wanna start comparing NFL talent too?
Cal has produced MAYBE a handful of guys that are worth a shit in the NFL right now that played for Tedford. Ferentz has about 20 guys producing in the NFL.
Let's keep going......
Tradition??
What the fuck? Is this even a Cal home game??? I mean, it says "Cal" at midfield, but I dunno......that's a lot of red.....
vs
No comparison.
That's nice. I'm just glad I don't have Kirk Ferentz as a coach and I don't live in a cornfield,
Boy, how original m2! Gee, how do you think things up like "i don't live in a cornfield"? Man, you must feel sooo cool and shit! Wow, corn smack to an Iowan. My god you're fucking creative. How's about being even more creative and taking a .357 to your dome?

Doesn't this...
...just make you feel all warm and fuzzy?
Some pretty interesting points have been made here, actually...
-Compared to Cal, Iowa has faced much better opponents in their bowl games. No two ways around that. Only going 4-3 in those games doesn't really say much for them, though. On the other hand, Cal's 5-1 looks very impressive, until you remember that their one loss was a shithammering at the hands of the only good team they've faced in a bowl game...and it was in Cal's only really good season. Cal has only had one real opportunity to step up and represent, and they failed, miserably...just like Iowa. Cal failed miserably against Taco Tech. Iowa failed miserably against a dominant USC team. Overall then, neither team has done anything in their bowls.
-Ferentz may have taken over a shit program, bit so did Tedford, who took over a one win team. The Cal team Tedford took over was absolutely horrible. Since then, he's won more than Ferentz. Ferentz doesn't get to exlude his 4-19 start, any more than Pete Carroll gets to exclude his first year at USC, taking over a moribund Trojans' program. Take away Pete's first year and he's something like 82-9. Unfortunately, the rebuilding years count.
Tedford rebuilt Cal more quickly than Ferentz rebuilt Iowa, and Tedford's record doesn't include nearly as many record padding wins against cupcakes.
-Considering Cal has 35 players in the NFL, and Iowa has 32, neither team has done fuckall, for all that NFL talent. Neither team has won a conference championship. Neither team has won a BCS bowl game, and only Iowa's even been to one; and they've only been to just the one. Both those teams have produced so much NFL talent that there's simply no excuse for how meh each team has been under these two coaches. Ferentz is barely above .500, despite relatively easy scheduling. Cal's only been really good one time, and they choked like dogs, that one time.
-Hate to say it, but Cal's future looks a lot rosier than Iowa's. Cal looks to be a program that's coming on strong, while Iowa is still just Iowa. If one had to bet on the success of either program over the next decade, the smart money would have to go on Cal.

Shit for brains.... Cal beat $C in 2003 and would have beaten $C in 2004 had Chase Lyman not have been injured in that game in LA.
Chase at the time was the top wide receiver in the PAC 10 and was averaging a freakish 25 yards per catch. Then as the season rolled on... Cal lost their top 4 wide receivers as they went into the Holiday Bowl. They played that game with their 5th and 6th string wide receivers and had to pull Jordan's blueshirt just for that game to have enough wide outs.
That being said, Cal had a 10-0 lead in that game and Arrington had over 100 yards rushing in the 1st quarter alone before Tedford couldn't help himself and he abandoned the run so he could pass like he's used to.... One of the worst moves by Tedford next to his man love for Nate Longshore. Cal's wide receivers in that game had a total of 3 plays on the season before that game.
Yep, with a 10-0 lead and Arrington going off (his 2,000 yard rushing season) Tedford made a huge mistake in trying to pass the ball to wide receivers that had played a total of around 3 downs... not 3 games.... 3 downs !!!!!
/
He never went back to the run in that game due to one of his biggest weaknesses... being a stubborn fuck.
If I'm not wrong this was the season that $C blew out Iowa and won their only MNC game.... while sneaking by a Cal team that completely dominated them in their own house.... till, Chase went down to injury.
Carry on.... since this is the year Cal absolutely destroys $C in "the Canyon ".

Shit for brains, Cal barely beat USC in '03, and USC went on to win the national title anyway...while Cal went on to suck mediocre cock. In '04 USC ran the table and they won another national title...while Cal again sucked mediocre cock.
Cal has played in one decent bowl game in your lifetime-not a BCS level bowl, mind you, but at least a decent bowl game, against a decent team-and there they sucked Taco Tech cock.
Cal has been a fucking embarrassment to the Pac 10, for as long as you've been alive.
Cal is oh-for-your-lifetime.
Chew on that. Not many people can say that, no matter which team they follow, in any sport. Even Iowa fan can at at least harken back to those golden days of yore, when they at least got their heads kicked in in big bowl games.
-Fun fact number one, regarding these two fucking doormats of college football: In four BCS level bowl games against the Pac 10 during the modern era, Iowa is 0-4, having lost by a combined score of 157-79. They were also the last team to get shut out in a Rose Bowl, 28-0, by Washington.
-Fun fact number two, regarding these two fucking doormats of college football: The last time Iowa won a Rose Bowl? Ike was president, color tv or even the 8-track tape player hadn't been invented, a '59 Les Paul cost a couple hundred bucks and the team those Hawkeyes beat was...wait for it...Cal! They best the living crap out of Cal, 38-12, in Cal's only BCS level bowl appearance of the last half century.
-Fun fact number three, regarding these two fucking doormats of college football: That loss by Cal capped an awesome and unprecedented and never since repeated stretch of Pac 10 futility in the Rose Bowl, whereby Cal lost four straight, over twelve seasons.
-Fun fact number four, regarding these two fucking doormats of college football: The last time Cal won a big game, Hitler hadn't even rolled through Poland yet, Gone With The Wind won the Oscar for Best Picture and the St Louis Browns were soon to become a force in the still non-segregated major leagues.
Oh-for-your-lifetime, Cal fan. You know what else? At some point, you will make it to a BCS bowl game. At some point, you may even win one.
Whenever that finally happens, welcome to being the Boston Red Sox. You'll be able to compare your one or two titles to the Yankees' twenty seven. In the meantime, you still have a way to go to even become the Red Sox.
You still have to beat motherfucken' Maryland, you urine uni wearin' buncha gutless queefs.

Yes. Never. Cal didnt win any Pac 10 title in 2006. If they'd won in 2006, they would've been in the Rose Bowl. Instead USC was, because USC beat Cal head-to-head, which is the first tie-breaker.
See, that's a pretty safe way to know if your team won the Pac 10: Did you play in the BCS title game? No? Okay then, did you play in the Rose Bowl? No?
Then you didn't win the Pac 10.
Cal has never won the Pac 10 during your entire lifetime. Cal has never even played in a big game during your entire lifetime. You may have to go back to your grandparents to find a Cal fan who can recollect Cal's last win in a big game.
Cal football is one of the single most miserable enterprises in the annals of American sport.
Exactly who keeps Cal company, there at the very bottom of the barrel?
The Chicago Cubs? Haven't won a World Series since 1908, sure, but they've at least won their divsion since then, which Cal hasn't, not since 1959. Fifty freaking years!
Cleveland Browns? Detroit Lions? They've both won world titles and division titles since Cal lost won a big game.
Cleveland Indians? They have a World title more recently than Cal has a win in a big game, and they've also won their division and their league since Cal has.
You know who's right there with Cal? The L.A. Clippers. No division titles, ever. No playoff series wins, ever. They've only been around since 1970, however.
So, there you go. If by the year 2041 the Clips still haven't even won a division title, they're the equivalent of your Cal Bears.

Looking at the stats, it tells me USC's ten penalties kept Cal in the game, at least for awhile.
It tells me USC again beat Cal by a wider margin of victory than any USC loss of the Pete Carroll era. It tells me USC beat Cal in the tie-breaker which decides the conference champion.
It tells me USC won another Rose Bowl, while Cal was relegated to their version of the Super Bowl...the Holiday Bowl.
Oh yeah, I remember 2006. That was the year Cal played Portland fucking State. That was also the year Cal completely embarrassed themselves again, and the Pac 10 too. Remember? I know the people on this board remember. See, that was the year Cal had to board a plane, to play a game in a different time zone. That was the year Cal got curb stomped by Fat Phil; by a Vols team you claimed were the Second Coming, following the prison rape they committed on your soft little group of cubbies.
You know, that same Vols Team Of The Century who went on to lose four games that year.
Yeah, I remember 2006. That was the year USC blew their chance at a national title when they suffered the single most inexplicable loss of the Pete Carroll era: the flatliner UCLA game.
They still won the Pac 10 though, then another Rose Bowl.
Gone With The Wind, indeed, Cal fan.

Hell, I'd forgotten how it ended, so it was damned exciting! The fact that your boys lost to such a nothing team should have excluded the Trojans from any consideration for a title. :P
Am I the only one that notices the incredibly lame atmosphere at a Cal game? Wow, talk about a snoozefest. Does anyone ever wear Cal gear to the games? And it looks more like a library type atmosphere. I'm imagining those homos sitting their reading books and knitting during the game.
Don't think this will ever be a CFB roadtrip I will make. I'm glad I'm not a Cal fan. If I was I'd probably get very pissed off at my fellow fans for being so fucking lame. There is no home field advantage in that stadium. I don't even have to go to a game to be able to say that. It's blatantly obvious with the videos and pictures this tool keeps posting.

'Spray, I just checked our teams....
USC is 17-10-1 against The Meatgrinder. Bama's kicked USC's ass, going 5-2. They're the only SEC team with a winning record against USC. Wait. Check that. Florida is 1-0-1 against USC.
Oddly enough, everyone remembers the Sam Cunningham game, when USC went into Bama and destroyed them, basically forcing Bama to begin letting blacks on their team. Well, the following year, Bama went to L.A. and won, 17-10, which nobody seems to remember.
One interesting thing about USC's record against the SEC is they've never played any of the four traditional SEC doormats: Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss or Mississippi St.
Auburn? They're 5-3 against the Pac 10. They've only played USC, Arizona, Oregon St and Washington St.
Dude. Seriously, y'all need to get out and see the world more.
